I rooted my Xperia Acro S with 2.55 firmware and keeping my bootloader lock with these steps, feel free to follow and don't forget to press THANKS. :)

Prepare:
*Settings: Security [Unknown sources] CHECKED
*Settings: Developer Options [USB debugging] CHECKED
*Charge the Xperia Acro S battery to 50% - 80%.

1. Flash your rom to 2.45 using flashtool (http://androxyde.github.com/) (you can uncheck all the menus even the wipe column) (this is the file of 2.45 rom http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2076625)

2. After flashing use this (http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1886460) so that your Acro S will gain root access, after rooting you can now install CWM just follow this:

Download link: https://www.box.com/s/qel8x02wx89uqs2tqgk2

Instructions:
a) Extract ZIP to your computer
b) Connect your phone in ADB mode
c) Launch the .bat file
d) Tap the Sony logo repeatedly when turning your phone on to enter recovery mode

3. Follow the instruction gave by desperanto and you will get the last stock 2.55 with root + cwm

*Unzip archive and flash ftf file via flashtool wintout any wipe! This is the file (http://www13.zippyshare.com/v/18967768/file.html)

*Copy StockRom_6.1.A.2.55+root+cwm.zip (This is the file https://drive.google.com/uc?id=0By2cxCzz7TAFblJmRGw4QkRuTHc&export=download) on your SD Card and install via CWM. (If you want clean ROM, wipe all before installing)

Done!

Press thanks if I helped you :)

Very useful post, nice to have all the information in one place. I had a lot of trouble with this and I didn't understand what I was doing wrong but it turns out I was flashing the WRONG rom. Make sure the ROM you download in step 3 is called "LT26w (Xperia acro S)_6.1.A.2.55_Version" and is ONLY 11MB. I was flashing a ROM that was 400MB so when I rebooted my phone I lost CWM and root.

When I flashed the correct ROM, my phone restarted and I still had CWM. I then proceeded with installing the zip file through CWM and it worked! This only takes less than 5 minutes (if you're doing it correctly) and when your phone restarts you should still have all of your data (if you didn't wipe).

Hope this solves the problem of people losing CWM when they flash the ROM - press thanks if I helped! :)

P.S. you will have both Superuser and Supersu if you followed the method in the OP. If you want to keep SuperSU you can go to System/App and delete the superuser.apk. If you want to keep Superuser you can open the SuperSU app and go to settings and there is a place to switch SU apps, or you can uninstall the SuperSU app from your phone completely.

Thank to you for all the detail.

I did pass the steps, and get a CWM-installed Stock 2.55, but couldn't have root access.
But after I install the Superuser.zip from Recovery, everything works fine.

So, if you could not get root access, after reboot, you could back to Recovery and install the Superuser again.

For Superuser.zip, you could find in below thread:
