[Q] IS EFS BACKUP ENOUGH !!! should we be backing up NVRAM?
As a GT-N7105 hacker I have read the Galaxy Note forums with interest and would like to support the backup of the EFS 100%
and recommend that anybody who is going to root or flash a device has a backup of the EFS file system partitions
even if you have a backup of these partitions my understanding is that some data is stored on the device in the NV-RAM within the semiconductors
within the device specifically the Qualcomm products ....
IT is possible to damage this data ...and as a result erase IMEI and other device specific data
the tools posted in the forums to back up the NV-RAM are a bit long in the tooth and Qualcomm and semiconductor manufacturers keep the details
of the internal workings of the devices confidential to stop IMEI cloning and other ilegal activities .....
As a result I would welcome comments regarding EFS backup and when the restoration of EFS does not restore a phone to working condition.
We all know Samsung can fix it with their internal tools at a service center but we could be bricking the NV-RAM from time to time without knowing it
and even a restore of EFS doesnt fix it ....
Comments Please ...and tell me about the events when EFS restore was not enough ?
