when flashing do you have to reflash everything or can you just flash the recovery then reboot recovery then reboot or after new recovery reflash the rom and gapps

I kept getting errors on TWRP. Would not let me update the ROM. Couldn't read the whole screen (text appeared to be cut off), but it looked like a build.prop error. Back on CWM 6.0.4.5 for now.
Was trying to flash CM10.2 nightly for i777.
Edit: Appear to be getting the same error on CWM 6.0.4.5 now. Status 7. Ideas anyone?

Try using the AJK recovery zip. That's going to be the philz cwm 6.0.2.7 further down in the op

Going to try that shortly if my current attempt doesn't work. I'm trying to stick with TWRP, because I like it much better. I got rid of the getprop line from the updater-script file - hopefully that does the trick. Putting the files on the SD card now.
so my phone is rooted and i have mr cooks rom cooked on it. so im just wondering is there a rom that helps battery life. cuz my battery dies in like an hour after charging to 100%. thanks in advance.
What are you running in the background to have that kind of battery life? I don't even think mine would drain that fast with a battery drain app! Kinda sounds like you may have a bad battery.

OK Here goes. I downloaded hemedil and asked for a list of devices. My samsung was not on it. I also downloaded Mr cooks wipe but dont know what to do with it. I am very computer savvy but this android stuff is mind boggling. This damn phone is getting ready to be target practice. Just wish I could afford it. will straight talk fix it do you think? An AT&T Rep told me to call samsung. Help guys...tell me what to do to use my phone again

Yes I am wanting to do the easiest thing right now. Then when I have time and better internet I can figure out all this other data. Im on vacation and Im missing out on some wonderful pictures not to mention checking on my children. I cant seem to get any of the steps shown to result in the described.

Yes straight talk will probably replace it for you. I believe they have a 1 year warranty.

Yeah i was having some issues last night with my SD card. I made a backup with online nandroid backup and saved to external SD but my restore menu only shows those on the internal and i can't find a way to make it look on the external SD for a backup.
For now I'm going to continue to tinker with it but I'm not going to try any experimental stuff I'm not sure how to fix.
What i LOVE about this phone is that as long as i can get into recovery, i can always get back where i was :thumbup:

I think I'm just going to replace CWM with the new TWRP in the op. It seems to be easy more compatible. Plus I like it better.
EDIT: Done. Op updated to install TWRP with Odin to be more compatible.

Ok ok ok wait... Let's clear up some confusion. The one and only difference between the 959g and the i777 is that the 959g has its recovery on a separate partition by itself, whereas the i777 has kernel and recovery on the same partition. The 959g can use any ROM or kernel built for the i777 no problem. But if you want a different recovery on 959g you must use one of the zips from the op or Odin. If you had an i777 and you flash a new kernel it will also install a new recovery as it will be packaged in the zip. If you flash the same kernel on the 959g, your kernel will change but recovery remains untouched since it is on a different partition. That is the one and only difference between the two.
