Great rom. Very fast and battery was still at 60% after 20+ hours. However after 1st reboot the phone would not come out of lock screen. It was like the touch screen wasn't responding. Boot into recovery np, cleared cache, reboot and still would not get pass the lock screen. Don't know what's up or why.

Anyway I restored backup from previous rom and all is well. Maybe this rom just needs a little fine tuning. I will be watching for updates and definitely be ready to try again as it really runs great.

Guys coming from my OG Evo there is one thing I do remember and its that sometimes restoring data from a different rom can cause an issue. I would say to properly judge any rom you should start from scratch and see what issues you have. I know downloading all your apps again suck but I think that should be done prior to complaining about a rom does not work or I keep getting this issue or that issue.

Now by all means if you have wiped completely, flashed the rom and loaded up apps from the market and entered your data back in manually and still have an issue... you have the right to be upset.

Troubleshooting is a P.I.T.A but when I see so many people having success with any rom and it is giving me problems I usually look to myself to see what did I do wrong or what little changes have I made... IMO

I had the same problem as the other guy. The phone kept freezing, and was very unresponsive. It only happened after I restored data from TB, but I was very careful on which apps I restored from TB. I have NEVER ran into this before. I am sure you are right playya. It was probably some restored app data, but honestly I can't think of which app would have caused this. I had to ODIN back to stock, because the power button stopped working in CWM also. I also got this weird text that I have never seen before, with strange letters and characters and what not. It almost seemed as though I got some sort of malware. When I ODIN'd back to stock, instead of rebooting, the phone went straight into stock Android Recovery and the power button didn't work on that either. I tried using the "home" button to wipe data and luckily that worked. I used ODIN to flash back to stock 3 times before I figured out I needed to wipe data because every time I rebooted my phone it would go straight into recovery and it would say "error: E:update.zip not found(or something like that)" then it would say *manual mode* and just hang there and when I tried rebooting the phone using the power button inside recovery nothing happened. I pulled the battery and it would just reboot straight to recovery. It scared the living **** out of me. I figured out I had to press the "home" button to select in recovery and it rebooted fine. It makes me wonder if I needed to push the home button in CWM instead of Power button, because that is why I ODIN back to stock, because I couldn't select anything in CWM. So, has anyone else had these issues?

Yes the home button will work or you can try the method I have been using when I go into CWM you press vol up vol down vol up again and it activates the power button. So in reality you probably did not have to do all of what you did...

I just got the ET4G yesterday & I am running stock rooted right now. I have downloaded this & will probably go with this as my daily. I just wanted to say thanks for the rom to calk, and say hello to tiffany. I remember you from the Evo 3D forums. Glad to see some familiar names over here. I see a lot of people from the og evo forum too.

Yeah, I guess I panicked when the power button didn't work. Thanks for the tip bruh. I'll remember that next time. I just rooted again and am running stock right now. I remember calkulin from the OG EVO forums and I really want to run this ROM. I will have another go at it and just restore app only instead of any data. Hell, I just got the phone yesterday, so I don't have much data to restore and also have only played Flick Golf and only a couple levels at that. I'll just restore that data and nothing else. Thanks again.

Yep, it's definitely a nice phone. I am amazed by the screen. When I compare my EVO 3D next to this one, the choice is a no brainer. Glad to see you here too wase4711. This is my first Samsung, so I am learning the ins and outs of it. I am used to HTC. I had a hiccup, but now I'm back on track. Now to try calk's ROM again.

Hey housry;

I had the same problem; the best way to get this rom running perfectly, is to NOT restore any of your backups; just go to the market on your pc, and send the apps you want to the phone that way...then, side load what ever "special" apps you want, and the phone will hum along..
As far as what you went through with CWM, I had the same "freak out", until I read here about how the buttons have been remapped..
Don't worry; the TWRP folks have one of these now, so its only a matter of time until we have their recovery..

This post is spot on guys... words to live by before you start bashing any rom for issues.. Also my personal experience on this rom is that the stock kernel with CWM makes it run better for me at least. Any noobs/old school cats out there should try the reloading from the web for their apps its kinda painless

OK, I really loved this rom, so I'm going to try again. I got another fresh download and will flash shortly. I was using launcherpro and some say that causes a problem so I will stay away from that. I did restore quite a few apps with TB, but only selective ones....never core type apps. Anyways this time I will take your advise and download everything from market or reinstall from apk.

I did run the rom all day yesterday without any problem, but never rebooted. This time I will reboot early on to make sure that wont be an issue. ;)

Cheers!

thanks, playa, it was YOUR suggestion to me yesterday to do this, and, since then, this rom is running perfectly for me...

Launcher pro runs fine; what I did was to go into settings/applications, clear the default of the twlauncher, then have launcher pro become the default launcher...ever since then, no issues with LP...

Yep, can't wait for TWRP. I saw Agrebren has TWRP 2.0 running on this. Rootzwiki gave him the phone which is real cool. Hopefully, when he gets done with it, he'll pass it on to toastcfh so he can get us some CM love on it.

Thanks for you help guys. It's time to give this ROM another try. I NEVER bashed the ROM. I figured it was something I did and not the ROM. That's why I came to the thread to see if anyone else had the problem. Anyway, thanks Playya and wase4711 for the tips and I'm off to flashing again. You guys eased my worry and my panic needle is out of the red.

yeah, after several htc phones, and one "thought I bricked it, it takes awhile to be comfortable with this thing; but, as you will see, its the fastest, most readable, useable phone in the market right now, and , if sprint ever gets their network **** together, this all be a keeper for a long time.. Since more and more of the Evo Dev's are getting this phone, its only a matter of time until there are dozens of Roms out there to play with...

I think we need to start a thread just called "USE HOME BUTTON IN CWM!!!!!!" lol, so many people can't seem to search for changes, at least that would pop for them right away

For your quad scores, what are your settings? OC'd, etc...
You say 4000+ that has to be OC'd right? When I was testing oc'd at 1600 I was getting 4800-5000.

The 4013 pic in my signature was before installing this ROM, and without OC'ing.

Yea it took me a minute or two before I actually loaded up Clockwork on here because that was not my recovery of choice with my Evo. I still have issues flashing somethings so I still have doubts about clockwork but I feel better about messing with my phone now...

No problem glad I could help... Also honestly I would try Go Launcher Ex it has a host of options like LauncherPro and its free and the developer does alot of updates. You can get a lot of the same stuff you get in LauncherPro Plus for free with GoLauncher. Also I have disabled sns, since I was reading that your phone checks for updates when you first hit the power button and try to unlock it. I added GoLocker which is a lock screen that is incorporated with GoSms (both can be found on the market) and it seems that my wake lock lag has damn near disappeared(was not that big of a deal but it worked).

Again, Glad I could help guys - so many have helped me so its time to give back...

I have the same issues it doesnt matter what rom im on or market. I read all the issues the market was having when i reported the bug to them. all the things people have said there problems were are listed in their bug list.

The bug list for the android market? Or specific ROMs?

    Based on rooted 2.3.6 / EL29

    ROM includes:
    Rogue Gunslinger kernel
    Busybox
    and more
(Some removed apps are in the sdcard/Removed_Apps folder)

    MODs included:
    Tweaked system(Very FAST)
Kernel can be undervolted using included Tegrak profiles
Crawrj's & Maddoggin's Hotspot hacks to unlock Sprint Hotspot & USB tethering
Moved dalvik-cache to cache partition(now if it runs low on space, it will move back to Data partition)
Reduced auto-brightness range for better battery life
    Removed haptic feedback from dialer
Notification bar will display TRUE network speeds, 2G(1x) & 3G(EVDO)
Camera can be used with less than 15% battery & during phone calls
Raised audio bitrate for most video recordings modes
Volume rockers can be used to take pictures
Reboot, Recovery & Download power menu options
Swapped phone & message buttons in dialer
    Removed mandatory Exchange security policy
TouchWiz launcher displays 5 dock icons & 5x4 app drawer
Volume keys will wake phone from sleep
    Disabled 100% battery notifications
    Reduced promixity sensor delay
    Browser UA string selection
    Removed Camera sounds
    Removed messaging from call logs
    Colored notification icons
    Battery % on battery meter
    Transparent notification background
    Removed USB Debug notification
    Relaxed MMS compression ratio
Raised MMS recipient limit to 500
Annoying ads in programs are blocked
    ICS Transitions
    And other misc tweaks/mods

System has also been de-odex'd, apk's have been optimized & aligned

    Notes about Battery Saver script

Can be used with any kernels that have init.d support

It completely eliminates the need for an application to set CPU speeds or profiles
Easily customizable if you use a text editor(scripts located in /system/etc/init.d)
It will set Max CPU speed to 800MHz & Min CPU speed to 200MHz when a sleep
If SetCPU, Overclock Widget, Android Overclock or QuickClock Advanced Overclock are detected, the script is ignored, so it will not affect them
Awake tweak will speed up the CPU to max speed for 5 secs after waking up to eliminate any lag while unlocking, etc, then it will return to the profiles

    Preset profiles are:
    1.2GHz - 100-85%
    1.0GHz - 84-36%
    800MHz - 35-0%

And just an FYI, even at 800MHz, the phone still operates very well & smooth but the battery saving are the real benefit

    v3.0
Switch kernel to Rogue Gunslinger v1.4.1(Undervolting zips in FAQ work again)
    Tweaked Battery Saver script
Tweaked Dalvik to Cache script(now if it runs low on space, it will move back to Data partition)
    Some UI tweaks

    Added
Awake tweak to battery saver script(it will speed up the CPU to max speed for 5 secs after waking up to eliminate any lag while unlocking, etc, then it will return to the profiles)
