I had 192 user apps installed and link2sd with a ext4 partition... Now on vegaics there was no issues. with this rom I can't reinstall all the apps even after rebooting etc I get [install_failed_insufficient_storage] errors with even when there's 500+megs free!!! am reflashing back to vegaics as at least can install every thing again...

I installed VegaCream beta2.1 to ViewPad 10s and no reboot issue. 3G and WiFi seems to work. Bluetooth work but not recognizable when turned off and turned on back (Need reboot to use again).
Good work scanno, can not wait for Final Release.

Hallos,
Nice rom and although Chainfire 3D seems installable, I seem unable to install its 3D driver wich is kinda crusial. I use an advent Vega.
Hope you guys can sort it out... anway just wanted to report it.

That installs files to the system partition doesn't it ?
You'd need to find out what goes where and do it manually after unsquashing the system.app file.

@ALL,

VegaCream Beta 3 is available for download in a CWM flashable zip format and NVFlash.

Following has changed:
- Updated sources to latest AOSP 4.0.4 version (IMM76L)
- Recompiled the kernel:
- Fixed clock frequency staying locked at 1000 Mhz
- Kernel version shows up in About
- TUN module is compiled into the kernel (not as a seperate module)
- Updated proprietary drivers
- Small change in vold.fstab. You can now see connected USB mass storage devices in settings/storage.

Have fun.

Scanno.

Have you tried Skype from this thread?
http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1148708
You first have to uninstall your old Skype and then download version from first link:

No GPS :-(

Subject: GPS NOT WORKING (Huawei EM770W)

I have the Vega with stock internal 3G+GPS.
With Vegacream Beta 2.1 All works but there are random freezes.
With Vegacream Beta 3 the GPS does not work. Weird...
Also, the message boxes seem to flicker a lot in this new Beta 3.
I don't know about freezes as I reverted to 2.1 after one day...

Good job nevertheless.

Thanks for the effort to make Vegacream as good as it is...

not working on the hannspad, as the other vegan rom and vegacomb are working on these tablets. Too bad :(

But keep up the good work as a Rom developer! :)

I just realised today that screen orientation lock is not working. But that's not the main question.. is there an app to force some other function into the screen lock button?

Hi guys!
Im running on VegaCream b3 and using Opera mobile as a main browser.
Which browser you use?
When I surf on pages for a bit Opera keep closing without any reason, is there any advice or different browser to use as this is really annoying thing.

At first I thought that you wanted an app that forces the tablet to go into "lock screen" mode --> It shows the lock screen and you have to unlock it.
Then I realized that you want to have a customizable lock screen.
That is only possible via ROM itself and there is no app.
Usually a ROM themer integrates many custom lock screens to choose from, but also the ROM maker can do this.
I don't know if there are already customizable lock screens available for tablets on ICS.

Try official Chrome for Android :
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.android.chrome
Or FireFox, which uses a totally different web engine:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.mozilla.firefox
You have much to choose from! :)
Oh, and don't forget to report back if the stability of your web experience improved.

Sorry, it's been a while since I last used this tablet. Totally forgot that the Vega has a screen orientation lock button on top. :)
Even tho I didn't understand you, part of my previous statement is actually true.
ROM developer has to implement other usage for that button if he wishes / has time.
And that is possible:
http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1244751
...
I found as well a solution to enter the suspend mode by just pressing the power button. The behaviour is now like:
  • Short press (~2 sec) => tablet enters suspend mode
  • Medium long press (~4 sec) => power option menu is shown
  • Long press (>8 sec) => tablet switches complete off
...

Hey everyone,

I am new to this forum and I have recently bought a PoV mobii Tegra without 3G and GPS. Now I have just installed this latest ROM VegaCream beta 3 via nvflash. Everything seems to work smoother and better, but there are still some noticable problems:

On Google talk voice & video chat does not seem to work; when you attempt it the app shuts down. Is there maybe something I have to adjust before I am able to use this function?? Because it is stated that this function should have already worked in the VegaComb version, I am doubting if I have done something wrong with setup or something to that extent. Can anyone help me with this?

Furthermore, I can get skype video to work. But the sound of the person you are calling with is awful, you can hardly hear what the other person is saying, as if he is talking like darth vader. When skimming through this thread I came across the v16 version of skype, I will try this out very soon, and hope that I notice an improvement.

No noticable problems with wifi or any other connectivity issues.

I really appreciate all the work that has been done in terms of improving the software on these tablets.

I hope someone would like to assist me in improving my experience with my recently bought tablet, thank you..

    [INTRODUCTION]
This ROM is based of the joined effort of a couple of devs (Cass, Eduardo, Corvus, Scanno and Brucelee666) who are working on getting ICS as good as possible for our device. This has resulted in a git repository where all the specific files and patches are located that are needed to compile the Android 4.0.4 AOSP source code and create a working ROM.

I am trying to keep the git repository up-to-date so that all the devs that would to compile the AOSP source code can use the repository to build a good working base rom and put effort in improving the ROM instead of figuring everything out themselves.

I am making VegaCream because i would like to have done this and have some knowledge about making roms. I am working in the IT business for almost 20 years and like many i have a professional and personal life. That means that if i am lucky i have 8 hours per week that i can spend time on this ROM. My wife, my child and my own health are more important then this ROM, so lets keep everything simple and nice. This is supposed to be fun and a hobby (at least it is for me). Let's keep it that way.

    [SPECIFICATIONS]
This ROM is based on AOSP 4.0.4 and the device config made by Cass, Eduardo, Corvus and myself (see https://github.com/vegaics).

    - DPI is set at 120dpi
    - Default ICS Launcher installed
    - Apex Launcher installed
    - Filemanager installed
    - Terminal installed
    - Google Apps is installed. This means that the Google base is installed and all the apps that are available in the Play Store are not installed (i.e. GMail, Maps)
    - All languages that are available in AOSP are included
    - Partition layout is the same as VegaICS beta1 / Modded stock
    - /system/app, /system/lib, /system/fonts, /system/framework and /system/usr are Squashfs filesystems.

    [INSTALLATION]
With BETA2 there are two ways of installing VegaCream:
    - Installing the CWM update zip from recovery
    - Using the NVFLASH windows executable.

Use the CWM update zip when you are sure that you have the correct partition layout (modded stock or VegaICS). Always do a *Full Wipe* BEFORE installing the zip file.

Use the NVFLASH installer when you are not sure if you have the correct partition layout or want to repartition and format your NAND. Put your tablet in nvflash mode (back-power-back) and run the exe in windows.

*ATTENTION* The Install zip is *BETA* and it does not have nice text or a good working progress bar. My primary efforts are going to the ROM itself at the moment.

    [WORKING]
VegaCream is now on the same level as VegaICS beta1 is. That means it has the same stuff working but it has also the same things that do not work and / or the same problems.
    - Wifi (same connection problems as VegaICS beta1)
    - Bluetooth (Did not test a lot, but it pairs and communicates)
    - (P)EAP (I could connect to the enterprise wifi AP that is available at my work, it connects and could update my apps through the Play Store. The Signal Strength indicator is NOT working when connected to that AP)
    - Camera (same as VegaICS beta1)
    - 3G (most huawei 3G modems)

    [NOT WORKING]
All hardware should be working now

    *WARNING*
As you might already have read, some people have problems with their touchscreens after flashing a new ROM (this can happen with any ROM). In worst case their touchscreen has died. There has been an investigation into this problem and the conclusion is that there are bad batches of touchscreens that can die when they overheat. This is also due to a design flaw of our tablets. As a precaution it is strongly adviced to disconnect the power from the tablet when booting the first time after flashing a new ROM. This because after flashing a new ROM, the tablet needs to do a lot of processing and that generates heat and increases the change of overheating the touchscreen.

If you feel VegaCream is worth it and would like to show your gratitude (the donate link is added on request):

AND also do NOT forget about ejtagle and brucelee666 for their great work.
