Finally, after nearly 3 weeks, another OTA update (r28) landed yesterday. After using r10 for several weeks, the immediate impression is kind of two steps backwords, one step (if any) forward. r28 is considerably more crash prone. The phone won't connect to your mobile carrier unless you have a wifi connection present. Most of the settings icons and there supposed content have been mixed up, i.e. sound icon brings up the network settings, bluetooth icon brings up location settings etc. Alarms still don't work. Lagginess is still there. Apps often open as just a white screen and has to be restarted.
Lagginess is maybe most evident in the browser and there is not difference to image r10. After tapping on "Activity" in the bottom toolbar, I have to wait 7 seconds before the activity screen actually shows. Going to Bookmarks takes another 7 seconds. All in all, it takes med some 20 seconds to open the browser and go to one of my bookmarked pages. This is a major annoyance, as the lack of apps makes using the browser a necessity for many tasks.
I do hope a new image lands soon, that at least irons out the most obvious bugs. In addition to that, I would really like to see the browser getting some much needed developer love. It would improve the Ubuntu Touch experience immensely.
