Thanks for your reply mdbs,
Actually, Link2sd, holds me from testing another ROM, but i know, time is moving, and new apps will require t he new Os, till then .

I wouldn't be sure how to handle that on cm9 + chacha. Maybe somebody else has feedback on link2sd, simple2ext, or another method to move apps?

I'm afraid you can't.. HTC Sync has some detection mechanism, probably related to HTC Sense/kernel or who knows what.

Because new members cannot post in the original thread (android development) because of the 10 posts rule.

Fair enough... I don't understand the point of this rule.

It's probably a way to minimize stupid (beginners) questions in the development section..

In case anybody wonders, I used a method conceptually similar to the one in this thread to run Simple2Ext on CM9 on the ChaCha. Please note the text below is not a guide, just an account of my experience.

I actually installed link2sd first and mounted the 2nd partition from the SD card as ext4 in link2sd. Rebooted, then uninstalled link2sd and installed S2E, all from the play store. For some reason link2sd wanted to mount the 2nd partition in /data/sdext2 or something like that. That was fixed by editing the /etc/init.d/11link2sd script so that the 2nd SD card partition is mounted in /sd-ext as S2E expects. After that and a reboot S2E takes care of the rest (i.e. mount -o bind of the 2nd partition to various places like /data/app etc, as well as the preceding move of apps and so on). It might also be possible to just set an environment variable to control where S2E looks for the sd-ext card, but I didn't try it and opted to edit init.d scripts instead.

In S2E, only the app move option was checked, and after reboot this option remains checked and greyed out, so it's not possible to move apps back to main memory in my case (I'm not sure if it's expected). No complaints about a "reboot required".

Lessons learned:
- partitions larger than approx 2GB didn't want to work with S2E
- ticking the ext4 option in S2E settings corrupted my sd-ext ext4 partition - I recreated it as ext2 on Windows using minitool partition wizard home. Later for some reason it got converted back to ext4 somewhere along the process, but then the S2E ext4 option remained switched off.
- So far so good, no errors. CWM backs everything up nicely

Hello, I just got my Chacha yesterday, and admittedly, this is my first foray into the whole Android ecosystem and I've got absolutely no idea what I'm doing.

Somehow, I've managed to install ICS on my device, through the HTCdev unlock, CWM, and finally CM9.

However, I've run into a few keyboard related problems. I downloaded CID Getter, though I really didn't know how to use it. I just read through all the data it showed, and eventually found a CID that looked like the one from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1456154

The CID that I found was HTC_016, and as indicated on the thread, it pointed to "none". I take this as there isn't a suitable ROM for my CID. Am I correct in this? If so, what should my course of action be? Do I try each one?

BTW, I'm from the Philippines and the closest country among the list is Hong Kong. Not sure though if the mappings are the same, since HK's primarily a Chinese country with a completely different language.

The problems I've encountered so far are as follows:

1. When I click FN + Y, I should be getting the "@" sign, but instead I get the "£" sign.
2. When I click FN + P, I should be getting the "~" sign, but instead I get the "@" sign.
3. When I click FN + ".", I should be linked to the camera, but instead I just get a semicolon ":"
4. When I type a number on the home screen, say, 7, which is also the Z key, it's the Z that pops up, as opposed to 7. I have to click FN + Z for the 7 to come out. When I was running Gingerbread, it automatically typed in 7.

Thanks for any help

EDIT: I downloaded the Hong Kong zip. Then I placed it on my SD. I turned the phone off and booted into CWM, then I ran the zip. The phone installed it, then I restarted, then the blue guy came out, then I got to my home screen.

However, nothing happened. My @ sign is still a £ sign, and I still can't type numbers directly on my home screen. Any thoughts?

Uh-oh, I've tried installing 2 other zips (tai and steng), and now my 0 doesn't work. I reinstalled the HK zip, but my 0 still doesn't work (it did a while ago before installing the other 2). Any tips how I can get this fixed?
