Hi bacon612 & Friends:

I found new.global.firm.PH98IMG.zip file with Baseband version: 2.23.10.0123r, 2.23.10.0124r and HBOOT-2.28.0000...

Can I flash it to my Rezound?

Thanks

Try looking in the Q&A section for REVENTECHS downgrade then upgrade back to stock 4.0.3

Hi pball52998:

Thanks for your reply...maybe I need to do the following:

1. Flash Rezound_4.03.605.2_Global_PH98IMG,zip first to get Baseband version 2.22.10.0801r, 2.22.10.0803r
2. Flash new.global.firm.PH98IMG.zip to get Baseband version 2.23.10.0123r, 2.23.10.0124r

I'm not sure which version of HBOOT to be my Rezound.

Can you help me to clarify my doubts?

Thanks

Although I would recommend going back to stock, and doing the full downgrade/upgrade process, you are S-OFF, so in reality you can just flash the firmware and radios, update recovery (You should be using the latest verison of PhilZ, CWM, or TWRP) then wipe and flash ROM... If you have issues, you are S-OFF, you could just downgrade/upgrade then.

Hi acejavelin:

Thanks for your reply...let me see if I understand...

1. Go back to CleanROM GBE 1.6.5.zip (stock)
2. Flash new.global.firm.PH98IMG.zip to get Baseband version 2.23.10.0123r, 2.23.10.0124r and HBOOT-2.28.0000
3. Flash Recovery update (PhilZ, CWM, or TWRP)
4. Flash B66-commotio-vigor-052814.zip ROM

Questions:

a. Is the procedure is correct?
b. In you opinion, What is the best Recovery update?
c. What else do you recommend me to get my Rezound with Software version 4.4.2 and Global Network?

Thanks in advanced

a. Pretty much... I don't see the point of going back to "stock"ish (CleanROM is NOT stock) if you aren't going to go through the whole downgrade/upgrade procedure though
b. fastboot flash recovery is the best method IMHO
c. nothing, you would be there... If you are looking at GSM coverage through, the Rez is really lacking in that department.

If you have any issues, be ready to RUU though... Sometimes this can cause unexpected issues, such as emmc (internal SD) getting corrupted and RUU will restore it, true EXE RUU, not the flashable ZIPs that are called RUUs but really are not.

Being S-OFF really makes this a simple procedure, and if for some reason it fails, easy to fix.

b. Which of the three options (PhilZ, CWM, or TWRP) do you recommend me? the current recovery is RA-VIGOR v.3.1.0-getitnowmarketing
c. with my current ROM (ConROMV6) after I type *#*#4636#*#* and change to GSM only, My Rezound don't take a GSM signal (I have a chip v5.0 into) but in the past, I got the GSM signal but right now I can't. What do you recommend me to fix this problem?

Although its been a while, I think that there is a possibility of bricking if you don't have the right hboot and radio combo. There's a thread in here somewhere describing which work and which don't. Someone else chime in if I am incorrect here. I've just always done it the safe way and used the android police ruu

You are putting too much thought into this... there is almost ZERO chance of bricking since you are S-OFF... if you are going to flash a complete RUU-style ZIP like you are mentioning, you should lock your bootloader first (no worries, you are S-OFF, unlocked is not really important it just makes a few things easier).

All you need to do is flash the firmware/radio package you mentioned earlier, update recovery from Amon Ra to something current, wipe and flash ROM. DONE.

a. Yes, exactly
b. I like TWRP, many people prefer PhilZ recently, it's personal preference... they all do the same thing.
c. GSM is tricky, the Rezound has very poor GSM radios, even with the current firmware may people can only get 2G/Edge. Personally, I would go back to STOCK (not a stock-ish ROM) by following the full downgrade/upgrade procedure that @REV3NT3CH has to update to the current firmware and verify GSM operation stock, then flash custom recovery, and custom ROM and test.

It is important to note that GSM is questionable at best on the Rezound without some radio tuning... if you are looking for a GSM handset and planning on using the Rezound, you may be disappointed... @REV3NT3CH has done some serious work on this, but it is still not perfect. I tried this for a while and gave up and bought a true-GSM handset. With the Moto E at $129 and the Moto G at $179 to $219 depending on variant, it is better to just grab a solid GSM specific phone than to try to get the Rezound to be a GSM daily driver... my 2¢ worth on that topic, I chose the Nexus 4 16GB when it was on sale for $199.

BTW, my son has the Moto G 16GB GPE, he loves it... the battery life is phenomenal, better than my G2, with almost 7.5 hours of screen-on time!!! If my N4 ever fails, I am going for the G myself.

The samsung relay 4g is also a great gsm on the cheap and can be easily manual unlocked by you the user and still get 4g on t-mobile or ATT based cards...havent tested with others but im sure youll still get 4g there too...plus with the roms and kernel i have built for it ive had my stock battery last over 2 days before it reached 5% level...it performs outstanding with my kernel for sure (very comparible in speed to an s3 on liquid. and you can get one in pretty much mint condition for under 100 bucks

If you completely through the down/upgrade guide you will be current stock of 4.5.605.14.

Amon Ra is not recommended for anything post-ICS.

Hi acejavelin:

Thanks again for your reply...let me write the last procedure for your review

1. Flash rezound_AndroidPolice_4.03.605.2_PH98IMG.zip to get Baseband version 2.22.10.0801r, 2.22.10.0803r1 and check the GSM signal
2. Flash recovery-ra-vigor-3.16-gnm.img.zip to get RA-VIGOR 3.16
3. new.global.firm.PH98IMG.zip to get Baseband version 2.23.10.0123r, 2.23.10.0124r and HBOOT-2.28.0000
4. Flash B66-commotio-vigor-052814.zip ROM

I'm not sure about "TWRP 2.7.0.0 touch recovery" if I can install from Play Store (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jmz.soft.twrpmanager) over RA-VIGOR 3.16...What's your opinion?

Thanks in advanced for your help.

That will work I guess...

You could go straight to a newer recovery though, no need to flash Amon Ra at all. You can get the TWRP zip here (2.6.3.0 is sufficient) or PhilZ here
