I think the download and automatic installation are two different things. The download is maybe obtained through an ad, and that, although annoying, is quite easy to do and quite not dangerous. What is worrying me more is the automatic installation... I agree with bluebunny, it must be a workaround on the play market automatic ability to download app from the web site. I think they simulate the user clicking on the "install" link on the mobogenie app page.
I wrote to Google play support, but had no answers yet.

These guys are insanely shady. I can't believe how long folks were swallowing the dog**** about how they were not aware or responsible for their apps behavior. Whole thing is just another clickthrough virus scam.

Still no solution? There are many sites which I cannot view because the mobile version is just crammed with mobogenie and the like.
Do these work?:
1. Request desktop site/changing agent
2. Disabling google interest-based ads

i hate mobogenie

it has installed itself on my phone without my consent. and it is a pain in the ass to remove from my pc. this is ridiculous, i never wanted this bull****. this ****ing problem needs to be fixed. a "legitimate" app that puts itself onto a phone without the owners permission is absolutely bull****.

Mobo Genie a 'pain in the app'...

Oh, the pain ! :cyclops:
This app has somehow subverted the camera of my Google Nexus 7 (?) I hope I fumbled, because if it did it all by itself, then there's
no place on ( none that I could find ) on Google 'Play' to give the app a one, or to even leave a smelly paper sack of negative comment.

I had read about people having browsed porn sites and being video'd by their own cameras while they (ahem).... Oh, the humanity.
I don't want to put tape on my tablet's cameras. It looks cheap.

Hate, hate, hate. :crying:

Im planning to report them every place on this planet.
I had made a small game and advertised with AirPush. One of my friends who I remember had installed the app, uninstalled it. I asked him why so he told me about mobogenie getting installed. It has happened with atleast 5 different people I personally know, and when they installed it they had no other option but to factory reset their phone, it clogs up all memory.
In some way it disheartens me that just because of a developer a lot of users are suffering. This is not the story with just my app or AirPush. This developer has infested the internet with his phony stuff. I humbly request all readers of this post to report these people or lets start some sort of petition to tell all people about this developer and these "Oops wrong advertising Strategy" antics. We know you are hell bent on collecting userdata through spammy permissions which 98% users fail to read and understand.
To all Mods, RC's and RD's and the Forum Admin, this is a question of a majority of Android users. I humbly request you to take action against this developer, his app and his antics.

In spite of Google's assurances I still get driveby APK downloads from them or their affiliates. This unethical and untoward marketing strategy of them is getting way out of hand.

Some did find use for the application as they were able to sync data to their devices, but shoving their wares down people's throats is insane, not to mention that you can just make do with either mass storage mode or through your device's PC suite, if it came with one.

Hey Guys,
I searched about it and I found a solution.
This may be helpful. For Android, Go to Settings then Accounts & Sync (or for some devices Privacy and Accounts)
The select the google account you want to and then go to 'Ads' settings there Reset the Advertising ID also go to Ads Setting abd you will be directed to Googles Ads Manager and Opt out of Everything you see. There you go, you won't se any annoying popups and downloads from mobogenie or other such apps anymore.
This helped for me.

Excellent I shall try this.

I initially wiped the tablet it was on but still there, as a system app and I can't uninstall it. Normally I'd just root the device and remove it manually but that's not possible at the moment.

popping out due to facebook

Same here! Hope someone can explaint what is this file!
It is my final conclusion from where mobogenie coming out???
My guess..
Whenever i get facebook mails sometime i click on them it leads me to facebook on its:( sns framework which opens in opera.
Then advert get familiar with opera downloader. Advert in facebook security options is all the time enabled very few ppl know it.
When we off the adverts in facebook security, we are not a part of spams like i was with monalisa when i was never with that friend.
When these adverts are off i am not a part of any auto like servers and they are posting to my friend, friends of friends on my behalf without letting me know..ie..Aditya likes cityville..Aditya likes obama speech.
Inspite it seems a stupid thought but why experts not able to resolve such an old issue..
Is mobogenie a sponsored auto like server product what will never appear if facebook account doesnt interact with opera Or the adverts in facebook securities are off???

Indeed it is a thought might be useful, flukes sometime hits bulls eye..

Anybody out there getting unwanted program mobogenie download and had no facebook account attached to the device or all were facebook users???
Hence google has nothing to do with mobogenie because it is sponsered by
Facebook advert thats why it trespasses pop up blocking even when cookies are disabled.
, reaches with same strategy to your pc too because facebook account is same on all devices.

Beneath is the killer mobogenie link...

Please check with adverts on and when adverts are off...also check when facebook account is dettached with device.

I only have the phone's native battery indicator. No app.
Mobicore is a micro-kernel developed by Giesecke & Devrient GmbH (G&D) which uses TrustZone security extension of ARM processors to create a secure program execution and data storage environment which sits next to the rich operating system (Android, Windows , iOS) of the Mobile phone or tablet. Hi,

After I reflashed android ROM to stock 4.3, rooted, restored my apps with TiBackup (done that process thousands of times) something strange happened.

Now from time to time file Mobogenie_1501.apk downloads by itself. I didn't open it (just in case). I delete it from downloads folder and after a day it downloads again (I can see that in notifications).

I didn't install anything unusuall except http://download.chainfire.eu/351/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.65.zip. Everything else - the stuff from Google Play I used for ages.

    What is this Mobogenie_1501.apk?

some other symptoms associated to mobogenie_1501.apk download

I've noticed that since this persistent download has started on my Galaxy s4 there's also another strange thing. The phone is slower, the system crashed several times and the process com.google.process.gapps is often reported as blocked. I've found it under Google Services in Application Manager/Active at the bottom as one of the processes.

    Does it help?

It showed up randomly for me. I got it while browsing a bunch of sites such as Xda, android police, nasa, space.com and some others. I got the download request even while browsing through Flipboard.

As you can see in the previous posts others report a bunch of other sites too.

I stopped receiving the download request after I deactivated all personalized ads from my google account ( and deactivated the RootPA.apk on my system

I'm not sure wich solved the issue but I sorted it out myself long before you guys show up here...

Sent from my phone using the "Send" button.

Thank you very much Lucalunardi this information will really help. and as per me i think Deactivating the personalized ads may have done the trick for you. Because its just the ads that are causing this.

    Thanks once again Lucalunardi
