[Q] How to turn off BACKGROUND DATA on ICS and JB
Anyone know of a reliable way to turn off Background Data on ICS and JB?
My LG G2X is running CM7 (but beautifully skinned for ICS!) and turning off Background Data gives me a 30% improvement in battery life and eliminates most of those annoying status bar advertisements. I really REALLY don't like the privacy vulnerability of my phone checking in with Google Play in the background
. For example, occasionally when I check Google Play, my desktop icon for Bing suddenly "disappears" (gasp!)
Meanwhile my Galaxy Tab is running JB and maintains a constant connection with Play. I get regular notifications demanding that I update my apps. And guess what - on my Galaxy Tab my desktop icon for Bing sometimes disappears on it's own! :P
There is an option to restrict
background data, but you need to set a data limit, you get an annoying alert in the status bar - and it doesn't work (restrict <> disable)!
I sync nothing with Google and want my privacy. Can anyone please help???
