Hmmm. Nearly all launchers include their own backup and restore (except for the stock one) and none of them seem to work very well.

I don't know of a good way of backing up the stock launcher. Isn't half the fun having to remember what went where when you reset it up again? :silly: :laugh:

Go Launcher (HD or EX) backs up and restores perfectly. It's really, smooth too.

I agree with you bro. This is my favorate launcher, the backup feature working well and even if I need to recreate from scratch it took about 3 min due to the multi icon/multi home screen feature that I can add all the icons to all the home screen at the same time. Another bonus feature is the "kill all running apps" task, just swipe down and hit clean. Also it works well with icon pack where you can add third party icon packs and change icon per colum/row/edit/rename/resize your icon on the fly.. Handdown the best launcher for tablet and phone(even more features and plugins).
The only way to backup stock launcher is to have root and using third party backup tool like mybackup or Titanium.

The launcher layout is stored in /data/data/com.android.launcher/databases. I don't know if you can copy and restore these files while in use, but it should definitely work from the recovery.

You really like Go Launcher that much eh ? I mean I trust your judgement and I am sure you have it working just fine, but I tend to think that "Go" is really getting bloated and messy. I'll give it to you that it is awesome for theming ... but I dont like all the "go store" add-on's / apps and falsely making it look like it is all free. I have run "Go" on my P999 (LG-G2x) and really like the looks of it. But it seems to be made more for a phone then a Tablet. I am partial to APEX and Nova Prime, but Adding Go to Aroma is fine.... everyone has their own favorites

Ok, I decided to unlock and flash this thing. I'm at the kernel selection screen, not sure if I should pick the 1.3-1.8GHZ or the 1.5-1.8GHZ... What is it stock, and is the 1,8GHZ going to shorten the life of anything?

Chose stock if you don't want to OC anything.

Eh, I already picked 1.3-1.8, too impatient.

Is the voltage jacked up for the 1.8GHZ or anything that would cause a bunch more heat? Was it 1.6GHZ or 1.7GHZ in performance mode stock? I assume it's easy enough to just reflash and pick other kernals at any time right?

1.8 ghz is only used in performance mode. 1.3ghz is actually an underclock for balanced mode as that kernel is so good

Use the kernel installer in the op if you want to switch quickly but yes you could just reflash.

Just download kernel zip from here http://d-h.st/8oX , use twrp to flash this zip, it will give you the option to flash any kernel on the fly. You should try out the stock first, then the Clemsync 1.5-1.8 would be your next best bet for OC.

Yeah, I'm used to using performance mode full time though. I guess I thought the 1.3GHZ-1.8GHZ meant 1.3GHZ would be power saver, then maybe stock speed set as balanced, and then 1,8 as performance.

At any rate, I just ran Quadrant and got about 5800, seems a bit low.

Try enable force gpu in developer settings

You should have force gpu rendering enabled and fsync disabled, then you will see above 6000+.

Force GPU was enabled before I flashed anything, but the second time I ran Quadrant I just got 6257. My best stock score was 4490, so I guess that's pretty decent. Don't know enough about fsync to mess with it, I'll read more about it later. Thanks guys.

AFAIK the black line issue won't go away with a different kernel.

I don't see the black lines at all on the CROMi on the stock kernel.
Getting a minute gray-line flash in the browser on occasion.
My opinion is that's a Tegra\Nvidia driver bug.
