Am I losing the Plot
I cannot for the life of me understand how the Ravpower RP WD 01 can get such good reviews, I have been using
a PC since the days of DOS, WP-4.1, Lotus 123, & XTree-Gold. today I'm using Windows 7, Word 2000/Excel
& Opus.
I am my own webmaster running my own four websites including setting up my own Meta-Tags, yet this little white box just
does not want to behave as simple as some have suggested.
To try and see, whether at 77 years I may have "Lost the Plot". I feel the answer is NO I don't think so, as I have
since purchased the "IUSBport by Hyperdrive" and within 10 minutes I have it fully running without any problems while
agreeing it is more than twice the price but nothing but another hour or two at work won't solve
Here is a list
1 = Can not access 10.10.10.254 either on my iPad, my HTC-Desire-HD, whether I have my WiFi set to my local Router to
"Safari", or my WiFi set to the Ravpower RP WD 01 it clearly state site not available.
2 = I did finally get Airstor & Airstor Pro up and running, but was NOT able to access my SD Card and a 350GB HD, as it was
asking for the password again, having told me that the password is 11111111, I entered the 8 X 1's BUT no, I was told
that I was using the wrong password, so I called a friend who had also purchased one after reading some of the Amazon
Members recommendations,
He stated that he somehow got round the 2nd Password problem by changing it, but also stated that only because he had
read some instructions on another forum and was able to get into 10.10.10.254, we both tried to find these instructions
but no luck which is how I came here
3 = My friends wife also complained that when the Ravpower was working that an Audiobook (mp3) just kept dropping out
and stopping and starting again, the Ravpower RP WD 01. was only 2 meters away, She moved the Ravpower RP WD 01
to only 50cm = ½-Mtr and then was able to hear the rest of the Book.
4 = I suggested that with these problems it was obvious that maybe the Ravpower RP WD 01 required the updated Firmware,
now comes something that is almost impossible to believe.
The Firmware comes down Zipped, so I unzipped it, into its own folder, and ended up without one file with an .exe
extension which was strange, all I had was :
The Instructios (Which were useless in either Windows 7, iOS or Android) ( See below Salutation).
The 8MB + Software = fw-wifisdi4294w4277, if you checked it Windows 7 Windows asked you what it should use to open it,
and iOS didn't bother.
You also had an md5.txt notepad file that made no sense whatsoever
And finally an Xcel Spreadsheet that told you about all what the update was able to do,
(Seemed a lot which does mean this new firmware was vey important).
Kind Regards
Tony
