[Q] Possibility to disable nfc when screen is off, without root
Background: The Moto X has the potential to be a truly amazing device with Touchless Control. The problem is that for most people, the amount of actions are limited since we have a screen lock.
The Moto Skip (NFC Phone Unlock) has the ability to work around this by placing the phone on top of an NFC dot by the bedside table for example, so we can use Touchless Control when we're lying in bed. But the problem is, the Moto X apparently does periodic NFC pulling even when the screen is off (which is a very unique feature to Moto X only... Most other phones I know do *not* do this).
So the question I have is: Is there a way to automate the phone such that I can disable NFC automatically when I turn my screen off?
I have looked into Tasker as well as Llama, but none of these seem to have the ability to do what I want.
There is the "Secure Settings" plugin that seems plausible as a Tasker plugin, but it requires rooting to toggle NFC (the need for root to toggle NFC feels very odd to me). I'm quite worried about rooting my Moto X, as I'm worried about future OTA updates (to 4.4 for example) failing.
Is there anything I can do to be able to truly use Touchless Control as it's designed to be used? (And not just a gimmick to show off to friends only)
Please help. Thanks.
