Yeah, after I rooted, it became a BETTER e-reader. I started sideloading apps like:
- Kindle
- Manga Browser
- Droid Comic Viewer
Plus, it then became a game machine and also a DivX movie player with RockPlayer. Once you see the IPS screen and compare it with the other tablets, this one blows them away, CURRENTLY. Of course, there are some missing hardware pieces that might dissuade you from your selection:
- No HDMI out
- No Bluetooth
- and No Kickstand
For the rooting part, it was actually harder than my past rooting experiences with my Android phones. However, I'm a Windows guy so maybe that's why the syntax was a little confusing. Definitely, be sure to backup your stuff before creating the SD card. However, once you get it rooted, the Nook Color is BOMB =)
