I can't get the method to work on my new Droid Razr from my Mac. All I get is a message on the bash screen - "daemon started successfully" - Then nothing. I opened the file, checked all the comments - unplugged and re-started my USB cable (charge only) - no activity. When I run the rootkit from my Downloads directory, the message says "--- WAITING FOR DEVICE" but, no other action. Thoughts?

It worked with me. Check your system / firmware version. I have 651.73.15.XT910.Retail.en.FR

It is just a raw copy from terminal. It includes unrelated folders and docs, but I hope that you can read it.. :)

Note that this .sh will not work at least with 651.150.1.XT910.Retail.en.EU

Do you have debugging on?

If it stops on "WAITING FOR DEVICE" ensure:
1. Your USB connection
2. That USB debugging is enabled
3. That Charge Only is selected

Thanks, I did this on my Rogers Xt910. (unlocked on Fido)

Work great, but funny a funny thing happened later that night while making a call. Any call I was in would die within 3-5 mins. I thought at first it was a just a network issue, but after trying to talk with a buddy and having the call drop 4 times I thought I would do some checking.

It seems something got a bit fubar on the phone. Simple tests with the wifes cell showed it was killing the call and it would show "Network Busy" on her phone and and hang up, and the Razr still was showing the call was ging for about 5 to 15 more seconds then disconnect.

Unrooted the phone, and same issue contnued.

The only reason I rooted was to put on the Verison Droid animation. no other changes were made.

I did a recovery boot with a wipe / format. All seems good now have been able to maintain a call longer then 5 mins. Just thought I would ask if anyone else has had this issue, or was it just a fluke it happened?

And again, thanks for putting a mac version out, although I guess I could have rooted on XP, as I did have to unroot in it, but hey.. :)

Same problem here: any ideas

I am getting this same exact issue ad I was wondering if anyone had any solutions. Turned on debugging, and set to USB charge only. Not sure what is going on.

I think I know the answer to this already but does your root method for the droid Razr (CDMA) work for the update? I tried to reroot using the same method 3 times but it just kept saying it was already installed but TB says otherwise..

Worked on Verizon (CDMA/LTE) Motorola Razr

hey if anyone is still having issues using Ubuntu 11.10 this is how it worked for me.

Download files here:
http://downloadandroidrom.com/file/D...otMacLinux.zip

Extracted files to downloads

Open up a terminal in your computer and use cd command to browse to the DroidRazrRootMacLinux directory:

cd Downloads/DroidRazrRootMacLinux

(press Enter)

sudo sh runmelinux.sh

(enter password)
(press enter)

The script runs and takes less than 5 minutes and after the script is finished i did a manual reboot. After it booted superuser automatically asked for bionic bootstrapper permissions by the way the Razr has 2.3.5

I'm having the exact same problem. Trying to run script on a Mac (Snow Leopard) on a Droid RAZR Maxx:

System Version: 6.12.173.XT912.Verizon.en.US

Doesn't seem to be working on my Aussie (GSM) RAZR running 65.1.40.XT910.Optus.en.AU

Anyone have any ideas where I should start looking for a solution? Is there a way to downgrade to an earlier version that I can then root?

Thank you for the super easy and one-click method for rooting! I greatly appreciate you!

I can confirm this does work on the latest OTA update from Verizon:

Hi...sorry for the noob-ish question, but when I type this command into my Mac terminal, I get the following error message:

-bash: cd: Downloads/DroidRazrRootMacLinux: No such file or directory

Now, the downloaded file is DEFINITELY in my Downloads folder, so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I was able to follow directions pretty well when I rooted my Thunderbolt using the terminal and some adb commands. Do you have any thoughts you might want to share? I appreciate your help.

---------- Post added at 11:38 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:24 PM ----------

Never mind. I don't mind admitting I'm an idiot. I went ahead and unzipped the downloaded file and all is right with the world. I'm the proud owner of a rooted Razr. Thanks for your work on this, and thanks for sharing.

You can unroot just by going to the SuperSU app and then go to the settings, and choose “Full unroot”. Its very easy and the whole process of rooting and unrooting takes a maximum of 10 minutes.:victory:
