Geo,

Great ROM. It's the best for me. Any chance on adding a 'reboot' option to the powerdown menu? Any thoughts for a name for you ROM? Keep up the great work.

Can someone please clarify how to use Darktremor's Apps2SD with this ROM?

Do I need to follow THESE instructions? If yes, when do i need to flash the A2SD addon which is given the first post of this thread?

Consolidated instructions would be good.

hmmm...i installed the FRG83 stock version but my nexus one (FRF91, Vodafone, SLCD, rooted, unlocked) kept restarting.

so i had to reflash my backup.

no clue what went wrong, installing from sd card "udpate.zip" went along fine. But after system reboot it didn't go on.

Any ideas?

That seems correct. What exactly is the problem?

Consolidated instructions would be good.

Just partition your SD card according to link you posted and install the a2sd add-on I provided.

Maybe it's because you have the newer SLCD screen?

I upgraded to the FRG83 and lost my 7 screens - went back to 5 =( Is there a way I can get 7 again? I installed the stockbar and then the blackbar addon. Just have too many shortcuts to squeeze onto 4 screens.

Many thanks in advance,

Mark.

I don't know really but my apps still on the internal memory even when I reinstall app.
My ext3 is always empty. But ext3 is mounted and ok (a2sd check).

Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App

Whilst we are talking of icons in notification bar, my native email app has a dark notification icon and with blackbar v1.2 it is so hard to see.
If someone does make new battery icons could they make a new email icon too?
Thanks

I used this to change all of my icons to colored ones so they are easier seen on a black notification bar:

Just download MetaMorph from the market place to install the zip file from that thread. It wont do anything for the battery though, there are other morphs for that on this thread: http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=654858

don't know, but i don't think this should be SLCD related as i can see the screen and the booting animation.

If it would be SLCD related then the screen would go blank because of the missing drivers afaik....

just tried wiping/factory reset before flashing the rom...and it worked now!

i chose the stock update.

FRG83 - Home Screens

Maybe this is a stupid question since I'm a bit of a newbie, but is there an easy way I can get 7 home screens again? I installed the FRG83 stockbar and then the blackbar addon and now only have 5 home screens instead of the 7 I had on the FRG33. I have too many shortcuts to squeeze onto 5 screens if at all possible =)

Many thanks in advance,

Mark.

BTW: what does "Deodexed with busybox" mean?

whats the busybox and what do you mean by deodexed?

I just want a complete stock FRG83 with root access. And i installed the Stock Rom from this Thread. Is this what i got?

Deodexed means that the framework files are unlocked for theming, that is all. Busybox is a linux utility required for gaining root access on your device. If you're running the stock FRG83 image from Geo you have a rooted vanilla FRG83 rom, so you're A-ok.

Anyway to get a complete stock frg83 odexed instead of deodexed. From what I've read deodexed sucks up some memory. I lost 30mb of internal memory going from a complete stock frf91 odexed rom(with root) to this complete stock frg83 deodexed rom.

    Gingerbread

Here's a modified ROM based on AOSP I've been using for a few days without any problems. I've been using the built-in sip calling to make free calls through my cellular data and it's great for saving minutes. Give it a try and let me know how it works.

Wanted to give a special thanks to ardatdat for his modded PureGinger kernel.

Known issue. High quality video not working.

I've attached two files as a work around. One enable HQ video but disables the camcorder and the other enable the camcorder but messes up HQ video. Choose your poison.

    Gingerbread (GRH78C)

Here's a modified ROM based on CM7 frameworks, kernel & drivers and AOSP. What this means is that everything is 100% working. FM radio, HQ video, Youtube and Camera/camcorder. Unfortunately I had a problem when updating the frameworks due to a bug and it broke Arabic support. The developer of the Arabic support files doesn't have the his files open sourced so I couldn't get it work.

    • GRH78C (Gingerbread 2.3.2)
    • Insecure Boot
    • ChainsDD's Superuser app
    • Busybox
    • Deodexed
    • Zipaligned
    • Trackball Alerts (configurable from settings app)
    • Trackball Wake/unlock (configurable from settings app)
    • Battery Percentage (configurable from settings app)
    • Notification power widget (configurable from settings app)
    • Render Effects (configurable from settings app)
    • Statusbar clock hide (configurable from settings app)
    • CM7 kernel (overclockable from settings app)
    • Configurable lockscreen
    • Modded browser with Incognito mode
    • Music controls from lockscreen
    • FM Radio
    • Flashlight (via toggles or widget)
    • Modded Phone app
    • BASH added for you Linux gurus
    • Added Chrome to phone
    • Added Video Player
    • Tweaked framework for More OS responsiveness
    • SIP calling over cellular data
    • Desire Style home layout
    • Rotating Homescreen
    • Download manager
    • Native iPhone Emoji display

The update notification from Google is so annoying, does anyone know how to turn it off permanently?

To avoid getting the annoying system update message you can do the following...
    (requires root)

Use your favorite file editor (I use root explorer) to navigate to /system.
    Ensure you have read/write access.
Open up build.prop in a text editor.
Change line 30 where it says "ro.build.description=<whatever it currently says>"
    Change it to "ro.build.description=passion-user 2.2.2 FRG83G 91102 release-keys"
Change line 31 where it says "ro.build.fingerprint=<whatever it currently says>"
    Change it to "ro.build.fingerprint=google/passion/passion/mahimahi:2.2.2/FRG83G/91102:user/release-keys"
    Save.
    Reboot.

I believe that part should stop you from getting the update. If you have already gotten it, you may have to navigate to /cache and delete the OTA zip file. I had to go one step more and allow the OTA to try to install and fail. Perhaps this is because I am still running FRG83 (non D).

You could also use ADB to pull the file from the phone, edit it on your workstation, and then push it back and do deletions as well.

As always, I recommend a Nandroid before you do this.

Sorry I haven't been around. I no longer use the nexus one due to me switching carriers. However, since I still have the nexus tucked away I'll update to 2.3.4 for you guys. I'll start working on it Monday since I'll be busy this weekend. Sorry for the inconvenience.
