What us custom recovery

I rooted my phone few days ago and its working flawlessly.
I want to know what is custom recovery and do I need it.
If so how can I install it?

Custom Recovery is used for making backups of your system , flashing new roms. Its more like an installer.

I like Twrp recovery.

CWM and twrp are the ones you can go for.
Just flash .tar file of the respective recovery through odin.

Can you tell me, Why do we need to backup our phone whats the benifit?
Is there any risk if I dont have a cwm?

you cannot flash any custom rom without one , and benefit is that if something goes wrong with your custom rom you restore your backup. to go to your original firmware.

So its only for custom roms?
I have rooted my stock rom

If I dont flash a custom rom so I dont need to have cwm yeah?

Yes you dont need recovery if you dont want custom roms
