To be clear I wasn't talking about using a task killer I was talking about using task manager to see what tasks are running, then 'offending' tasks can be dealt with permanently. For example I had a game installed that was running a service.

I love my SGS for all the reason except the memory leaking. I am on JVO(stock) and I am frustrated when cell starts to lag. If i restart phone, the free RAM is like 120 MB. Just after 1 hour or so, it falls between 70-80MB. But, just after another hour or so it falls down to 25-30MB. There is where my phone starts to lag like hell, and many a times it just freezes. I can't play games properly. Just wanted to know will this get fixed in JVS? I am addicted to gaming and I can't afford lag on my cell. :(

Have you tried Cyanogenmod 7... :confused:

[OFFTOPIC]
CM7 is nice but I had to switch back to a Samsung rom because of /datadata constantly filling up. I'd symlink the largest directories to /data but then the next time I'd update these apps they'd move back to /datadata and I'd get FCs everywhere. Finally got sick of constantly fighting with my phone. Too bad, it was a nice rom.

The SGS could use more memory but it shouldn't be that bad. Get an app like (free) advanced task manager and see what you have running in the background. I never ran any 2.3.4 roms but with 2.2.1 and 2.3.5 I go for weeks at a time usually only rebooting when I tinker with the setup. I clear memory in the program manager once in a while but it's probably not necessary. Maybe you have one or more apps running in the background hogging memory, some of them set themselves up as services.

I am using advanced task killer pro, but it is useless. I have even set it to auto kill, with level= insane. This means that it clears the apps as soon as I lock the screen. If i manually remove apps from task killer, it shows lets say 70MB free ram, and then if i quickly go to the running apps, it only shows 50MB RAM.

I am attaching a list of running services. On left hand side(76-78MB RAM), 1-4 are the services running after 1 hour of rebooting. However, on the right side(25-26 MB RAM), 1-4 are the services running after 2 hours of rebooting. Now this 25 MB ram is really annoying, I can't play games, system hangs...

*You might observe slight new apps on the right side, but that's not the issue as before installing these apps, situation was similar.

In short, is JVS a solution for this issue???

Once again - try superchargers script for this kind of issues - you can influence the overall memory management behaviour very well.

Kind regards,
ww

P.S. as alternative try Auto Memory Manager (free app), but I would recommend the script solution.

Sorry , I have no idea about supercharges script. I would appreciate if you guide me through it.

One more thing, look at the pic above and tell me is there a way to stop services like

settings= 8.1MB
DRM Content=1.4MB
Google services= 8.4MB
MAPS= 4.7MB
Software update= 2.7MB

This should save around 20+MB of ram. Any way to stop all of them if they are not too useful.

I don't have any wifi issues on JVS stock. But, I found out that wifi signal bar never remains at 100%(doesn't matter how closer i am to my router). How to fix this issue?

Well I wouldnt call it an issue that the WiFi Icons doesnt show full network. I would call it an issue when WiFi actually had connection problems.

Since thst does not seem to be the case, screw the icon ;-)

    I use an edited pit file to remove modem partition and i put the modem.bin i want to use in sdcard, so it's easy to test.
    Proof of concept:
    SC20110911-184414.jpg

    So i don't have any modem installed, but i can use wifi without any issue ...

    You should not always react as if you known everyting about anything ;)
