You'd be surprised how managers at stores will argue with a consumer when they actually bring their phone in for a legitimate reason, so calculate that into it and your talking even less in the equation.

I must be out of touch because let's take unlocking out of the equation completely for a sec. If a regular user breaks their phone in any way, within the first year let's say, and goes to the store to ask for a new phone, aren't they totally blocked pretty much every single time? I thought they always had to sign a new contract for another discounted phone. Are there situations were you can just a replacement device from the store? Or maybe its the insurance repairs that they're worried about losing money on additional non legit claims?
Now maybe warranty repair is a concern. But that's separate from the carrier right? i just dont see why carriers care to such a level...
