[Q] Displaying markers
Here's the situation. Im developing a android application for tourists. The app should display users location using Google Maps (Google Maps Android API v2) and other six categories of places. Each category will open on the same Google Map Activity but only with the selected (from menu) category markers displayed. Total amount of 107 places are shown by using markers (.png icons). The markers should display info about a particular place when clicked (Info Windows). The info + longitude & latitude are in .xml files.
So my question is, how do I get the icons/markers on the map with the correct attributes that are in my .xml files (6 categories = 6 .xml files = 1 for each category).
Can I use a way by parsing .xml files into app (after reading/downloading from web) and display markers with that info or will that make my app slow?
These .xml files are managed by the corporation that is responsible for the ifnormation in these files. When downloading them from web each time the application starts, ensures that these files stay up to date. But isnt it making my app slow?
