Consider rebooting the phone and start again; it worked for me. First time root did not work for me, so I reboot and start again.

Sent from my x10i using XDA App. 2.1 Global FW. Rooted.

I have reboot the phone but it is still the same, it hang there for quite some time so I give up and use the traditional method to root the phone using SuperOneClick via the PC instead.

If I root using this method will I lose all my data, apps and settings? There all backed so its not a major issue, would just rather know first.

Cheers

so I'm on campus and want to test this out on my DX, but no matter what version I try to download it says unsuccessful due to the "content not being supported." Anyone know what's going on with that? I also can't find it in the market.

EDIT: after a couple reboots, astro finally recognized the apk and after that it rooted in under a minute, MUCH better than super one click method.

This is an amazing tool,

One thing i would like to see in it though, is a Shell Root option, as the 1click method isnt working too well (well at least for me) on 2.1.

I did the jit method thing today (2nd try and it actually worked for me this time), and decided to test this app out, and it took like max 30sec or so for it to reroot, and it took 5min or soo to get myself re-rooted with the 1click :D
keep up the good work!

and this REALLY needs a sticky, for people like me who pull their hair out over the 1click method :p I hope this doesn't end up buried :(

this should be stickied.

Worked perfectly on my X10a with the generic 2.1 firmware, super fast, no need to bother with crap on the computer, just download this app from the market and boom.

Just to make it clear this is not my work, I have taken it/linked it from another post on XDA - here.

    What this does

It is an app you install (currently you must side load it, but it will be on the market once it's had some testing here on XDA), that has a single button that will root your device. Should work on ALL Android devices -- please leave a note if it works or doesn't work on your device.

    How safe is this?

Should be 100% safe - nothing on disk is changed besides the root binaries, so if something goes wrong, simply rebooting the device should fix up any and all issues. Let me know if you find any bugs!

Ok trying now. One question... If I root and delete these pre-installed apps and have problems afterwards... can I just factory reset?

You will have to re-install the firmware or install the apps if you can.
