Though it still applies here...and it's incorrect.

Killing applications, just like every other Android version, does not affect battery life.

Doesn't that only clear the apps from the recent app list? I know that not every app listed is currently running, because it lists apps that I have confirmed to be closed... (long-press back to kill FTW)

I think people confuse cached apps for running services.

It has dropped the battery consumption for android os from 75% to 13%. I dont know how or why but since i found this my battery life has been exponentially better.

Well, anything is possible...

I thought that list was just a bunch of shortcuts to recent apps (not a cache of the actual app data), but if it is linked to the cache, then clearing it out would mean less cache data to juggle - I just didn't think that the difference would be that significant (maybe there is a bug in the memory management that causes innefficient processing... or, maybe the stock ICS ram requirement is compensated for by a lot more cache activity, which would also increase battery drain...)

But if it makes that much of a difference, then I'd like to learn more about how it actually works - if it is linked to the cache, then manual clearing might be the only reasonable method, but if it is just shortcuts, then disabling it shouldn't break anything else, and might save even more battery... this could be my ticket back to CM9 as a reasonable daily driver (without having to buy a new battery, lol)...

This has my thoughts going in several directions at once, so I'll leave this post on that incomplete thought before I end up writing a novel of half-baked ramblings

Download Better Battery Stats and check for wake locks.

Sounds like you have a rouge app.
