Carriers can now unlock your devices

I read this in another thread but starting today it looks like now all us carriers can unlock a device that is in good standing domestically or internationally. What you guys think?

You know that means unlocking it so you can take your phone to another carrier IF the phone is compatible with the other network. And this has basically always been so, just not widely spoken of. It came to light when it became illegal for anyone but the carrier to unlock for other carriers.

This will only affect phones that are launched after Feb 15th of this year. It does not apply to older phones.

As an FYI, this device is kinda picky on frequencies.

I was able to use it no problem in Hong Kong, but had no luck getting data in Japan. Thankfully my wife's LG G2 worked in Japan.
