If you upgrade to the GP edition firmware, the ugly htc splash screen is gone, and so is the red text. Plus the bootloader is nicer looking in my opinion. Also, you get hboot 1.54 which supposedly introduced some fixes. HOWEVER, s-off doesn't work with 1.54 unless you were already s-off with 1.44 prior to upgrading. So keep that in mind.
Also, I feel like the radio in the latest GP edition firmware gives me significantly better LTE on AT&T then the previous firmware and/or radio.zip files floating around here.
