Tried it, got stuck in a boot loop. Any suggestions?

EDIT:

Ok, so managed to boot up with the custom kernal, but recovery mode won't find the update_su.zip file on the sd card.

I've the same problem, becasuse I put the file on the externad sd card, I've move the file to internal sd card and the recovery find it.

Frequency table is located in arch\arm\mach-ux500\pm\cpufreq-db8500.c
Code:
static struct cpufreq_frequency_table freq_table[] = {
	[0] = {
		.index = 0,
		.frequency = 200000,
	},
	[1] = {
		.index = 1,
		.frequency = 400000,
	},
	[2] = {
		.index = 2,
		.frequency = 800000,
	},
	[3] = {
		/* Used for MAX_OPP, if available */
		.index = 3,
		.frequency = CPUFREQ_TABLE_END,
	},
	[4] = {
		.index = 4,
		.frequency = CPUFREQ_TABLE_END,
	},
};
But i don't have a much experience with a kernel compilation. Especially without the phone ;)

But wait ... i have an idea! It can be achived without compilation from the sources.
We can use byte-patching to change the maximum freq ;)

It must be there if you have copied it. Check it twice.

Test kernels with increased max CPU freq
Voltage is default. Ready to root (patched Recovery).
If you're already rooted, it will remains after flashing.

kyrillos13, voltage is default, i'm not changed it so far.
I have a report that while benchmarks shows an overclocked freq, the real performance left on almost the same level (Antuntu, etc).
Waiting for more reports.

pskmrc, thanks for testing! However, we need to make sure that 1200 is not only the displayed value.
Can you make some bechmarks with and without OC, to have a comparable results?

The scores seem too similar for a 400Mhz increase. You should do a few more tests to be sure.

Hello guys,

just two questions:
is it necessary to wipe before and after flash?
And if I flash the firmware, will the installed apps and data got loose?
Thank you!

The creator of this thread :)

Hi dhvenus,

I made the flash without wipe.
And the installed applications and data remains intalled.

    Instruction:

    1) Download and install SAMSUNG USB Drivers for Mobile Phones
    http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?p=11633550#post11633550

    2) Copy update_su.zip to internal sdcard.

    3) Switch off the phone and enter to download mode ("Vol Down + Home + Power").
    Wait until the driver will be installed and Odin will recognize the phone!

    4) Flash I8160XXLD8_ready_to_root_ANT.tar.md5 using Odin as PDA part.

    5) Turn off the phone again and enter to recovery mode ("Vol Up + Home + Power").

    6) Select "apply update from sdcard" and choose update_su.zip file

    7) Reboot the phone

    8) Got root? ;)

    Warning:You will lose your warranty. At least until we find a way to reset a custom flash counter.

    • XXLD8 stock kernel

    Root can be installed via CWM. Choose the best for you from below ;)
    BTW, no need to re-install it if you're already rooted.
