Post questions by all means but if someone tells you to read a thread (which just happens they'd wrote and spent lots of time on) DON'T read a different thread then complain that the original thread (that you didn't even read) is out of date.
Yes, I call myself an RC. So does xda. I have a right to help people without them criticising my thread as being out-of-date when they couldn't even follow the information to get to the correct thread in the first place.
I especially do not then expect these people to come back and question ME!
People who don't follow instructions properly are dangerous and often end up with a bricked device, like you could have done today! So if I tell you to read a specific thread, I expect you to have the sense to actually read it and follow it correctly and not to read a different thread then complain to me that its out of date! ok?

Don't beg for thanks. The "Thanks" feature exists so that important threads are not cluttered with pointless "thanks" posts. Receiving thanks is not an achievement, nor should it be your goal.
