I see where they are found but do I have to have the apps on the settings point to them to recognize them. I can open the emmc folder but I can't figure out how to make the apps show on the screen.

Edit - what i mean to say is that my music player can see all my music in the emmc folder but none of the apps are recognized by the OS. How can I make them be "seen" or do I have to just download everything again.

Are you talking about apps that you've previously installed to your sdcard? If that's the case, you probably need to reinstall them and let cm9 decide how to make them available.

If that's not the situation, sorry, I don't understand your problem :(

If you have apk files on your sdcard, move them to /data/app or touch them and the system will ask whether you want to install them.

Are you saying that you HAVE already installed the apps and the OS don't recognize them -- or are you saying that you have NOT installed the apps and want to so the OS will see it in the settings?

Anyways I would use something like Titanium Backup to backup my apps + data so to make it easier to re-install. I suppose you can transfer the apk files to the root or something but I'm not an expert. Or like you said, just re-download them if you can.

Titanium Backup was the answer. Now I cannot get my contact to synchronize from my T-Mobile backup. I'm sure there is some T-Mobile software I need to get it to work. Also it won't import from Facebook for my contacts either. Importing contacts is a pain.

Other than that, I absolutely love this mod. It looks great and if very friendly. Everything runs quicker and I love that I got rid of all the crap! Thanks!

Camera app disappeared

I am running the 6/18 version and I was trying to adjust camera settings. I rebooted and the camera app was gone! I'm not sure how to fix this or if I should just update to the 6/26 build. I did try to download an App called Camera ICS but everytime i open it, my music player starts. Weird.

Neither Facebook or T-Mobile contacts are supported by CyanogenMod, AFAIK.

You probably have been using the stock T-mobile backup app from the phone. It's on google play - just search for "T-Mobile Contacts." I don't know if it works for cm9.

If it doesn't work and you have a lot of contacts then probably going back to previous rom or nanadroid backup and then re-sync your contacts to google contact is better. You may already have been doing that if you check the setting on the account and sync section of your phone. If you don't have a lot of contacts then just manually type it in on the web with your PC or lappy is faster. Your google contact is located in your gmail page, upper left pulldown menu along with google task.

I have the 6/11 rom installed after full romwipe and aside from what I posted last time haven't had all the freeze and reboots posted by others until today. I finally enabled bt in the car for a call and after call ended it froze. Screen remained on until hard reboot while battery drained quick. I'd assume the bt stack isn't that good on 6/11 release even though last month it was OK.

I have found the 0605 build to be stable for me. All the later builds froze up or rebooted on me while restoring my apps from Google play or within the first hour of use.

Me too man...Just started happening with the last two builds. The previous build wasn't so bad because I didn't always notice the phone rebooting. Now it shuts down hard and reboots when I'm in the middle of something. Even typing a text message it rebooted twice. Kinda flaky last build 626

I noticed it freses up and you hafta force reboot the phone. Usually it cuts off when watching YouTube and locking the screen

No offense but does anyone know how to fix my problem(battery drain)

Sent from my SGH-T679 using xda app-developers app

Battery draining is determined by how many processes you have running, and how your phone is configured. If you have a lot of apps installed, I suggest uninstalling the ones you don't need, especially ones that can be easily accessed through a web browser. Also, clean up your home screen of unnecessary widgets, they drain a lot of battery because they are constantly updating.

I'd also recommend running a few of the scripts by zeppelinrox. First, install Script Manager. Then download these: V6 SuperCharger, Kick Ass Kernelizer, [Optional] 3G Turbo Charger. Put them somewhere on your SD card, and access them from the Script Manager (run as root by pressing the skull icon when you click on the file). Run them one by one, just choose the options best fit for you. If you need help, do ask.

I think you should set up an IRC so we can help people without them having to clutter the thread.

Ya. or clearly list what common problems are and ask people not to ask questions about them.
BTW I ordered some 1950mah batteries from china I'll get them in a few days. I'm hoping they will last longer than the OEM

:/ Flashed the latest build.. Lag.. Lock ups.. Random Apps crashes... Reboots.... -Sigh..-
Full rom wipe, Xquizit superwipe on top... Davlik cache, everything. Still.. No mod to the OS, clean install.. And dead.

Back to the 05/28 build... ;----;

Could anyone hint me to anything I could be doing wrong? D:

Also... Android 4.1/Jelly Bean..? Anyone? lol

Aaand I would like a walkthrough of how to install V6 supercharger... I've done evrything and it still seems to cause even more lag...
Got services.jar patched, everything is correctly installed, hell I've even installed the newest busybox despite the fact that CM9 already has it's own... :c Still.

We kinda already do, not very active, but its #galaxy_e . Or at least it was i dont know if it changed or not but thats what it was last i knew and its still usable. (http://webchat.irchighway.net/?channels=#galaxy_e)

I am in their quite a bit lol

http://webchat.irchighway.net/?channels=#galaxy_exhibit

I set up this channel, didn't update the wiki. It's listed in the links post of the Galaxy Exhibit topic. I generally pop in late-night ET. I find parking in there too distracting, it interferes with development.

This is a port of CyanogenMod 9 (Android 4.0.x) for the Samsung Exhibit II 4G. It is very much a work-in-progress. There are no guarantees whatsoever that it will work to your requirements or that it will progress beyond its current state. Major kudos to Arco68 for his help in getting this going; you would not have this ROM except for him.

Here is a video by dennis96411, showing CM9 on the Exhibit II

    What seems to work
    Phone
    Wifi
    SMS/MMS
    GPS
    Bluetooth audio
    Amazon Market
    HW accelerated display
    Headphone detection
    Microphone detection
    T-Mobile Wifi-calling (works for most)
    init.d support
    CIFS networking
Camera (Stock Camera only, 3rd-Party apps mostly don't work)
    Haptic keyboard feedback
    Market/Play
    Gmail
    Browser
    Screenshots
    Streaming video

What does not work (NO ETAs)
    911 Emergency Calls
Torch app (check thread for alternatives)

CM9 for the Galaxy Exhibit is NOT vulnerable to USSD dialer exploits.

    Vanishing text
The content of text buffers sometimes disappear when touched (messages in: gmail, yahoo,fb). Wiping cache has fixed this for some. Long-press of back key and restarting app for others.

    Facebook
Facebook sync is not included in AOSP. 3rd-party apps are available in the market.

    3g vs 4g
Cyanogen Mod views UMTS as 3g whereas the stock Exhibit II rom views it as 4g. Even though you see 3g on your status bar, your actual speed should be unchanged from stock.

    Changing band preference
In dialer, enter Service Mode via
    You should see:
    [1] Automatic
    [2] WCDMA Band Preference
    [3] GSM Band Preference

To force WCDMA only, tap option 2, on next screen tap option 6 - WCDMA All

To force GSM only, tap option 3, on next screen tap option 7 - GSM All

You can use the back button to verify your settings took effect. To exit, tap menu button, quit. This change does not survive a reboot. If you use this frequently, save it as a contact.

    WIFI Problems
Wifi is working fine for almost everyone using CyanogenMod 9 Galaxy Exhibit build (and also for the Galaxy W). If you are one of the very few having difficulties, a possible fix has been posted that may help: WiFix Manager.

    Installation
Installation requires a CWM-based recovery. Download/update Galaxy Exhibit Custom CWM Recovery here.

    Updating CyanogenMod 9
Once you have a stable install you're happy with you can apply future updates w/o any wiping. If for some reason a wipe is required, I'll make that known.

    Download CM9 Beta
    Core2idiot's CM9 Nightlies

    Google Apps
    Google Apps gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip .... Mirror

    Kernel sources

Copy the downloaded cm9 beta and gapps zip files to your internal or removable sdcard.

    Back up your data.

Start Custom Recovery (cwm): Press & hold Vol-Up, then press & hold Power. Shortly after the plain white Samsung logo appears, release both buttons. Recovery should start after the color Samsung/T-Mobile Exhibit logo.

    CWM Keys:
    Home key = enter
    Back key = back
    VolUp/Dwn = highlight choice

If installing over a non-CM9 ROM you must do a ROMwipe before installing.

Select "Install zip from sdcard." Choose the cm9 beta zip from sdcard or external sdcard, depending on where you placed it. Highlight the cm9 beta zip file then press Home. Confirm the choice and installation will proceed. You may also install Google Apps (gapps) at this time. Gapps does not include all Google apps. Those not included are available from the market.

Please DO NOT PM me with support questions! Post them in this thread!

    adios

I'm moving to a Galaxy S2, so my work on CM9 is going to draw to a close. If you have a build environment running and would be interested in continuing development for the community, please PM me. It's been a fun ride and I'd like to thank everyone for their support.

    Compile CM9

Portions copied from Motorola Droid X CyanogenMod Wiki

Thanks to Arco68 for hand-holding and patches. Any mistakes are mine.

These instructions assume that you will be using an Ubuntu 10.10 Linux system (or a close relation, Debian, Linux Mint, etc). Setting up a Linux partition or creating a Linux VM are beyond the scope of this post.

    First, Install the Android SDK

Next, install the linux build packages required. I install using apt-get:

    For 32-bit & 64-bit systems
    apt-get install git-core gnupg flex bison gperf libsdl1.2-dev libesd0-dev libwxgtk2.6-dev squashfs-tools build-essential zip curl libncurses5-dev zlib1g-dev sun-java6-jdk pngcrush schedtool

    For 64-bit only systems
    apt-get install g++-multilib lib32z1-dev lib32ncurses5-dev lib32readline5-dev gcc-4.3-multilib g++-4.3-multilib

NOTE: gcc-4.3-multilib g++-4.3-multilib is no longer available for Ubuntu 11.04 64-bit, but should still build without issue.
NOTE: On Ubuntu 10.10, and variants, you need to enable the partner repository to install sun-java6-jdk:

    add-apt-repository "deb http://archive.canonical.com/ maverick partner"

    NOTE: sun-java6-jdk <> open-java6-jdk!
These instructions assume an "android" directory located in your home

    Install repo
    Code:
    mkdir ~/bin
    curl https://dl-ssl.google.com/dl/googlesource/git-repo/repo > ~/bin/repo
    chmod a+x ~/bin/repo
    Download CM9 source
    Code:
    mkdir ~/android/system
    cd ~/android/system
    repo init -u git://github.com/CyanogenMod/android.git -b ics
    repo sync -j16
This can take hours. When done, ~/android/system should be at least 11Gb in size.

    Next:
    Code:
    cd ~/android/system/frameworks/base
    git remote add arco git://github.com/arco/android_frameworks_base.git
    git fetch arco
    Download kernel source
    Code:
    mkdir -p ~/android/system/kernel/samsung/ancora_tmo
    cd ~/android/system/kernel/samsung/ancora_tmo
    git init
    git pull https://github.com/arco/samsung-kernel-msm7x30.git

Repeat the pull command occasionally to obtain updates.
    Download ancora_tmo device directory
    Code:
    mkdir -p ~/android/system/device/samsung/ancora_tmo
    cd ~/android/system/device/samsung/ancora_tmo
    git init
    git pull git://github.com/Jocala/device.ancora_tmo.ics.git

Repeat the pull command occasionally to obtain updates.
    Download ancora_tmo vendor directory
    Code:
    mkdir -p ~/android/system/vendor/samsung/ancora_tmo
    cd ~/android/system/vendor/samsung/ancora_tmo
    git init
    git pull git://github.com/Jocala/vendor.ancora_tmo.ics.git

Repeat the pull command occasionally to obtain updates.
    Set up prebuilts:
    Code:
    cd ~/android/system
    ./vendor/cm/get-prebuilts
    Applying cherry-picks
You'll need to gain at least a rudimentary knowledge of
using git and github. Teaching this is beyond the scope
of this howto. Cherry-picks must be re-applied after each
repo sync.As time goes by they also get merged, so it may be that some
cherry-picks are no longer required. You can check their status here.

Attached to this post is a script (reposync.txt) that will do a repo
sync then apply current cherry-picks. I keep it in my
android/system directory. Rename and chmod 0755.

Set up your environment & build

    Code:
    . build/envsetup.sh
    lunch cm_ancora_tmo-userdebug
    brunch ancora_tmo
Building takes at least an hour. If everything worked, you should have a
    out/target/product/ancora_tmo/cm-9-SOMEDATE-UNOFFICIAL-ancora_tmo.zip file

    ============

    CCACHE

If you have room on your build system you can speed
your builds up considerably by using ccache. ccache is a compiler
cache. It speeds up re-compilation of C/C++ code by caching
previous compiles and detecting when the same compile is
    being done again.

Install it with apt-get: sudo apt-get ccache

Set environment vars for Android use:
(I put these exports in my .bashrc)
    Code:
    export USE_CCACHE=1
    export NDK_CCACHE=ccache
Set a cache size of 10G for optimal results:

    Code:
    ccache -M 10G
Check the status of your cache with the command:
    Code:
    ccache -s

    Returns:

    cache directory /home/jocala/.ccache
    cache hit 106673
    cache miss 18379
    called for link 3758
    preprocessor error 5
    not a C/C++ file                    4425
    unsupported compiler option 678
    no input file 4565
    files in cache 36758
    cache size 3.2 Gbytes
    max cache size 10.0 Gbytes

This is true. My phone always says 3G, but switches to H when downloading, then goes back to 3G.

Also, even though he's now ignored, Nightlies aren't forced updates. You can flash over the update whenever YOU want. They're just always supplied on a nightly basis in case there have been any changes to the repos. Since it's CM9 there probably won't be many new changes, but its still offered...

Sent from my SGH-T679 using xda app-developers app

It's always hilarious when a newcomer shows up who absolutely knows it all, refuting everything we only think we know about our phones.

I think the idea of nightlies is great, I never had the resources. I've replaced the OPs download link with a link to Core2Idiot's nightly page.

On another note, I've decided to keep my Exhibit as a dev device, so I'm going to continue busting my head with 911 for a while at least. I'll post if I have any breakthroughs.
