Root after newest German JB-update XXCMA1

Hi,

I had a rooted Note 10.1 by using the exinosAbuse method. Worked perfect, best of all was the "unroot" function, which allowed me to receive the new update via Kies.

After installing the update the exynosAbuse did no longer work, of course. Here is my question: Is method 2 via Odin sfe to use with XXCMA1?

Some Questions

Hi,

Sorry if i'm asking something that was already answered but i didn't find anything clear about language and region.

Can I flash the German 4.1.2 (here http:// xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2016792) in my N8010 (Brazilian)?
I was reading about CSC and things like that but i'm a little confused. I mean, i just need to follow the steps from this thread... right?

The German ROM contains the Portuguese (Brazilian) language?

Will I loose resources or something like that for flashing a ROM that's not originally for my region?
Thanks.
(Sorry my horrible english)

EDIT: I found the answer in another thread ( http://xdaforums.com/showpost.php?p=37095775&postcount=7 ). Thanks anyway

EDIT2: I just followed the guide and it was more easy than I thought. Thank you so much!

Worked flawlessly. Went from Canadian ROM to the German 4.1.2 ROM. Can't believe how easy this actually is. Anyway, thanks for making this guide.

I have a Note 10.1 from South Korea (SHW-M480W, WiFi only) and I downloaded a .tar file which is the Jelly Bean update for my model (someone got it through Kies, and uploaded it).
It is about 2 GB and contains the following files: boot.img, recovery.img, system.img, cache.img and hidden.img.

Since the file has been extracted from Kies update, should I install Kies so that I can install the update?
Or can I use Odin as described in the tutorials? If yes, should I rename my .tar file into .tar.md5?

Do i still need CWM???

Hey there, I just rooted my note 10.1 last night and installed Tundra Rom. I rooted with Max's method from rootgalaxynote.com and installed CWM but I like using TWRP better and noticed it was able to be installed for the note 10.1 now so I installed TWRP as well using GooManager and all went well. My question is, do I still need to keep CWM too? or can I just use TWRP and get rid of CW? & if I can, would I just delete the CWM folder using a file editor like root browser? or is there another way I would have to delete it? Sorry for the noob question and I hope I wrote in the right thread? I'm relatively new to XDA. Any help is much appreciated and thank you in advance to all on XDA! I've learned so much just reading through all the threads. I also am running a note 2 rooted/unlocked on beanstown build 7 and I learned so much from his thread! So thank you all !

Just wanted to post a quick note/tip for n00b rooters like myself. I ran into the issue where CWM was not coming up after rebooting. I finally found the bit where you're supposed to disable reboot in Odin because the tablet overwrites with the stock recovery stuff.

Copy/paste from another helpful tutorial:

Q: I don’t see ClockworkMod Recovery when I enter recovery, I see stock Android recovery.
A: With newer software updates, you may be encountering this error because it will overwrite ClockworkMod Recovery upon reboot. To get around this, simply boot into ClockworkMod Recovery right after flashing in ODIN. You can set auto-reboot off in ODIN then when done, just hold down Power and Volume Down straight to bootloader menu.

I had previously successfully rooted via Exynos Abuse method. This morning I was prompted to install an android software update. (I was already on jelly bean so not sure what the update was exactly. In any case my version now says 4.12)

As expected, the update undid the root. However when I try to reapply, the exymos abuse app now says "failure, could not root device".
Anybody know if there is still a way I will be able to re-root via exyjos abuse? I really like this method as I have averything else stock on my Note and I like receiving the ota updates automatically.

Thanks a lot for any help on this :)

The Exynos Abuse made use of an exploit/vulnerability to easily gain root. The vulnerability was removed in 4.1.2 so Exynos Abuse no longer works.

This method of rooting with Framaroot works apparently http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2144710

Thanks Bulbous...framaroot seems to have worked perfectly.

Any idea if I will still receive OTA updates after rooting this way?

How to get Official status back after Rooting?

Hi, I rooted before when I used the German JB 4.1.1 firmware and had to get back to U.S. ICS to update to 4.1.2 U.S. Jelly Bean. I used triangle away last time and status and binary counter went back to "Official" and none. Now I tried to root to use the Multiview Manager app on my GN 10.1, it didn't work the way I wanted with the main app I wanted to use it for. So decided to UnRoot and use triangle away again. Now when I unrooted I still have the Custom showing on Device Status. How do I get it back to Official now?
I'm hoping I don't have to revert back to ICS again and do a full wipe of my GN, Then Update to JB again. Is there a way to do this without going that route? Appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks.

Samir, thanks for checking in and replying. I used Chainfire's Auto-Root for the N8013 GN and flashed it using Odin. When I rooted this time, I used Triangle away, then full unroot, and when I went to check in Download Mode, I have:
Custom Binary Download: No
Current Binary: Samsung Official
System STATUS: Custom

Like I said, when I went From German 4.1.1 ROM back to flashing the U.S. ICS ROM and Rooted, using triangle away app and then full Unroot that time, Binary count was reset to No, Current Binary was set to Samsung Official, and System Status was set to Official. When I did the Same Chainfire Auto-Root and flashed this time, Root was succesful, tried the Multiview App, but didn't work for the app I wanted, so did the Triangle Away app again, did the full unroot, and when I went into Download Mode everything was as listed above. Reset everything, except the System Status, which is now Custom.
I have a couple of questions:
1. Is there a way to get back to Official System Status without going through the above listed way I got back to U.S. ICS and Having to Wipe my device and do a factory reset?
2. If i go back to U.S. ICS and flash it, then do a full wipe of everything and factory reset, will that set everything right and back to Official? I'm just trying to save some time of having to load everything again and setup my GN all over again.

As for your Question about the CWM or Custom recovery, not sure if that was included in Chainfire's Auto-Root, but I don't think so. I never saw a custom recovery, just stock recovery when I used it before.
Also, since I didn't get an answer right away, did some googling and found this Post: http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1939945
He's saying all I should have to do is flash the last Official ROM for my Country(Meaning ICS) and then Binary Counter and System Status will Both Be Official and I can reload the U.S. OTA JB update or Use Kies to do it. The big thing is I will not lose my data. Now I know this post is for a phone, but wondering if it'll work for my galaxy Note N8013?

    Rooting & Installing CWM Recovery

    Rooting

    Method 1

The easiest way of rooting is by downloading and installing the exynos from here

    http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2050297

Install the APK on your device

    Run the APK

    2013_01_04_00_37_03.jpg

    Click on Root Device

    Your device is Rooted

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Method Two

You will need the following things before you install the firmware

CWM for Note - Attached DO NOT EXTRACT(Have not tried this particular one on any other version except N8000)

Odin - Download for here http://androidfirms.in/tools.html

    SuperSU - Attached
Copy SuperSU to SD Card (Internal or External)

Note drivers - Should be installed with Kies (Make sure you exit kies before proceeding further)

    notevolpow.jpg

Please enter Download mode on your tablet by pressing Power+Volume down button until you get the download mode screen as show below

    howto_root_galaxynote101_3_690x361.jpg

Once you enter download mode this what you should see on the tablet please press volume up and ignore the warning

Connect your device to your computer using the USB cable
Make Sure your device is sufficiently charged
Make sure all drivers are install correctly
    Exit Kies

Extract all the file in the Odin archive if they are zipped

    Run_Odin.jpg

Run Odin by clicking on the exe file as show above

    odin.jpg

If all drivers are correctly install it should be detected by Odin in ID Com

Click on PDA it will open file select menu and select the .tar file (CWM file attached should have extention .tar) by going to the location from where you saved it.

    cwm.jpg

Make Sure you un-check Auto Reboot button in Odin

Once the file is loaded, press the start button.

Once the process in completed it show PASS but device will not restart.

Do not restart the device in normal mode but in recovery Mode

Press Power+Volume UP button till you see the GT-N8000 logo then leave power button but do not release the volume up button until it boots into recovery mode thats CWM

Scroll down to Install zip from SDcard

Select SD card if supersu is stored on the internal SD card or external SD if supersu is stored on external card

Once you select it will give a warning message, select yes to proceed installing super su

Once you are done you can go back to main menu and reboot (It may give you message which will disable device from installing stock recovery after you reboot select yes)

    Reboot device.

    Run SuperSu from applications

Congratulations you have done installing CWM recovery and rooting your device!!!!!!

Warning - Installing CWM will increase your binary count (Next tutorial will teach you how to reset it)

    Method 3

Download CF Autroot from the following links

    N8000 - http://download.chainfire.eu/236/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-p4noterf-p4noterfxx-gtn8000.zip
    N8010 - http://download.chainfire.eu/247/CF...to-Root-p4notewifiww-p4notewifixx-gtn8010.zip

    Extract the files
    Run ODIN
Put your device in download mode
    Load the .tar.md5 in PDF
and follow the rest of the process you would follow for installing a rom
    26
    Odin

WARNING - When you downgrade from JB to ICS most probably you will get stuck at the Samsung Logo and your device will not boot, You will need to go into recovery and do a complete wipe & reset to boot
So always backup your data before flashing a Rom

You will need the following things before you install the firmware

Firmware - you can download either from Samfirmware or http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2016792

Once you download the files you will need to extract, the extracted file should have the following extention .tar.md5 remember the path where you extract the file

Odin - you can download again from the above link

Click on PDA it will open file select menu and select the .tar.md5 file by going to the location from where you extracted it.

Once the file is loaded, press the start button.

Odin will start the process of flashing the firmware and will take around ten minutes to complete it once it is successful it will show a pass message and reboot the device.

You are done installing the new rom Congratulations !!!!!!!!

This is the most common question asked on this forum how to install firmware using ODIN, I know there are many post in which this has been shown but I have decided to include this as a sticky thread so its up there for everyone to make use of.

Initially this will only show installing firmware using Odin, other things will be added

    Post 1 - Introduction
Post 2 - Installing Firmware using ODIN
    Post 4 - Rooting & Installing CWM

The process of Installing the Firmware is the same for all variants of Note i.e 8000, 8005, 8010, 8013, 8020 BUT MAKE SURE YOU DOWNLOAD THE CORRECT ROM FOR THE VERSION OF NOTE YOU HAVE

You can also flash Rom by copying the Rom on your device and using Mobile Odin Pro App
The same is a paid app and is available of play store
You need to be Rooted to use this app

Link to Mobile Odin - https://play.google.com/store/apps/...xLDEsImV1LmNoYWluZmlyZS5tb2JpbGVvZGluLnBybyJd

Please do not missguide them please tell me how can you flash a stock firmware using CWM recovery.

IF YOU ARE FLASH STOCK FIRMWARE WHICH IS UNTOUCHED IT CAN ONLY BE FLASHED USING ODIN OR MOBILE ODIN CANNOT AND I REPEAT CANNOT BE FLASHED USING CWM
