I use Power Control Widget... wifi/bluetooth/gps/sync/brightness =] 1 click quick.

BUT BUT BUT
The GPS in that & all widgets takes you to the Settings where you have to then manually turn GPS on. So what's the point when I can just go to Settings & do that myself.
The difference here is 1. In the Quick Settings it is much faster to get to the GPS on/off switch and 2. It was able to turn GPS on/off in 1 click from any screen & did not just lamely drop you into the Settings to manually do it yourself... big difference.
I truly hope they put the button back. We've already determined all of the GPS button images are still in the system files as is the code to run them (see a different thread if mine on that) so they left it in place they just shut the function off when the GPS **** hit the fan. But now.... that's over so its logical to turn it back on so we can get quick access to turn it on/off like we use to have in the beginning. Its a natural Quick Settings item & even they thought so which is why it was there originally.
Damn, bandwidth exceeded on photobucket. They'll be back up once it resets. Sorry..lol.
I have a paid PB account, I can host them for you with unlimited bandwidth if you want to email them or something, then I can link you to the public album.

Lol, not really. It's still just a smidgen shorter to have 1 "click" to your GPS settings than it is to press Notification > press Settings (or just one press of the settings button on keyboard) > Press Location Services > check/uncheck GPS
vs.
Click widget > check/uncheck GPS.
But, still a widget lol and even if they (the widget creators) put a notification icon option, it would still not be as quick as ASUS's quick settings since you'd still have to check/uncheck it yourself.
And trying to help others will never be a fail, unless they die from it
Good point. I never used that widget yet so i didn't know it would take you to the settings..lol. I thought it was a one click toggle. I already passed the word on about enabling the Asus GPS toggle again. Just waiting to hear back on it. Hopefully they do on next update or 2 coming.
BUT BUT BUT BUT
so your okay with having a widget AND the Quick Settings? Not me. The Quick Settings are essentially well placed streamlined widets. What's the point of a power control widget for essentially just GPS when all the other tasks it handkes are handeled by the Quick Settings. Its lamely redundant. GPS on/off belongs in the Quick Settings where it belongs & was.

Cool.
This is our best & only outlet to be heard by them & hopefully they see the logic of putting it back now.
Possibly, it could be the fact I'm using a custom Rom. I'm not stock; however, I really fail to see how this could be the culprit. At any rate, any suggestions?
Demandarin and/or others,
I'm not experiencing as good as performance with the Dongle as has been reported by you and others. It does work; however, it takes at least 2 minutes to get a lock and then I'm lucky if I lock onto 4 birds. Once I have a lock, it doesn't hold it as well as it should. (By the way, I'm testing outside with virtually no major obstructions). With only 4 birds locked, obviously I'm not getting as good a fix as I could but its not terrible per se. Incidentally, this is at least better than I was getting before. Before receiving the Dongle, I never got a lock at all. In fact, I never ever saw any birds at all so this is obviously an improvement; however, I'm not seeing the kind of performance you reported. I'm still getting better GPS performance with my phone...indoors and outdoors.

Disclaimer: I do want to troubleshoot this a bit to see if I can improve the performance (what else do I have to do with my time? ) but I'm not going to lose any sleep over it either. I didn't buy the Prime for GPS.

I unfortunately still cannot get a solid lock even with the GPS extension. It helps a little bit, it will see upwards of 16+ satellites, instead of the 0 that it used to see, but then it loses them instantly and goes back to 1 and starts all over looking for sats, seeing a bunch, then losing them. Never attaining a lock.
It very well could be the culprit because ASUS had to make changes to their software to work with the dongle. If you're on a ROM, you might not have that software.

I'm glad ASUS came up with a fix, but the fix doesn't allow you to use the dongle and the keyboard attached, or dongle and charge.
I know this has all been said before on other forums, but when you spend £500 on a device that includes a keyboard dock, you shouldn't have to expect an add-on to negates the keyboards use.
A good interim solution, but hopefully ASUS will come up with a better solution, or allow us to trade in our Primes against the TF700.
Thanks for the great post though.
