Vancouver, BC, CANADA eh.
Kozmo: Since I am using a T-Mobile Phone, Can I still flash the 7105 Roms or other variants onto this phone? I am actually just using this phone for Bell in Canada, so I don't require Wind or T-Mobile Bands, but if that allows me flexibility in better rom choices then I would love that.

Yes, I have a T889 also and using the ROM's from the AT&T section (where the DN4 is :D) and been using the wilson CM13 ROM from the 7105 section that I linked in the previous post.

Can anyone tell me what version ROMs this works with? I'd rather not read 100 pages to work that out :p

I was on CM13 when my previously factory unlocked phone randomly rebooted than asked for an unlock code. I've reflashed to the latest stock ROM, but I think that's too new. I hate the idea of throwing out an otherwise perfectly OK phone :(

Uh, yeah... That's how I ended up here. It says "at least 4.1.1", but then immediately contradicts that by saying to go lower if it doesn't work. And on top of that, we all know they removed it later, so the "at least" is wrong/unclear too.

Edit: Nevermind... Looks like I can't flash back to older ROMs anyway ("invalid magic"). I guess this one is becoming a WiFi only tablet.

Getting perso lock returning every few days, guessing no one knows why/how this happens?

(Running Wilson's build of CM13; when sim Lock returns I Odin to the 4.1.1, follow the procedure, then flash twrp, then restore nandroid (and have tried on a clean install too).)

What device are you trying to unlock? Because you can try to downgrade the modem to access the hidden menu.

It's an N7105. Was never locked. Never had any problems... And suddenly, after 3 years (possibly to the day) it just rebooted and came up with the message about SIM Network Unlock Code.

I found a page that suggested editing some files in /efs to re-enable the menu, and it worked (I got the menu up). But it refused to rebuild the NV - said something about custom platforms. I did have a non-standard recovery at that stage, and may even have had a modified TouchWiz ROM (not sure what I ended up flashing that time).

Going to try reflashing latest official ROM and if it still won't unlock, I'll call it a WiFi only mini-tablet and buy a new phone.

Ok. Hopefully it works out for you.
But I would never mess with the NV rebuild process, cause if something goes wrong then you'll end up with a brick.

What I always do is try to find a 4.1.1 modem and flash that.
Then you'll be able to use the hidden menu unlock feature. Then afterwards just upgrade too the more recent modem done.
I just did this on a sprint note 3 from Sprint to be used on T-Mobile. ?

I think I already tried flashing an old modem... But that could have been right back at the start when I still had Cyanogenmod on... I probably should start taking notes as I do things :p
I'll give it one more go some time soon, but I'm pretty sure it's had some sort of hardware failure now. It did stop reading the SIM randomly for a few months earlier in the year.

Ok so this may have been answered so if it has i'm sorry but here goes

I did this downgrade to get the menu on my SGH-I317M from sasktel (bell) a few months ago and everything worked great! I am currently sitting on 4.1.1 and was quite happy but now i find my self in need to get to 4.4+ with knox triped i cant do the opdate in the normaly way.

Heres my question. If i flash a custom rom that puts me on 4.4+ will i loose the sim unlock?

thanks

No, you shouldn't lose the unlock. The only cases of losing it have come from people that are on CM ROM's, and it's a very small % that have had that happen to them. I've had mine unlocked for 4 years now and flashed tons of ROM's and never a problem, even with CM ROM's.

If you're on a TW ROM, you can just try flashing the 4.1.1 Modem to get that menu... Then after unlocking, flash back to your current Modem.

Tw Rom=Touchwiz ROM (Samsung)
Flashing a modem is just like flashing any other zip file from a custom recovery. Just search XDA and you should find some info on how to.
excouse me bro, this tutorial work for samsung NOTE 1 GT7000 ? THANKS

I have samsung galaxy exhabit t 599n metro pcs 4.1.2but disnt get this [3]Perso SHA256 OFF >

    ############################################

    Hi guys, you can unlock you N7105 via the Samsung hidden menu. [Also works with N7100 and some Galaxy S3 (SIII) variants - NOT ALL]

    #############################################

    I can confirm the unlock survives ROM flashing

    #############################################

    Before doing the instructions below, please double check your phone that it is actually LOCKED by inserting a sim card from a different carrier/provider...you may or may not leave that sim card on the phone while unlocking

    Note: your phone must be running at least Jelly Bean 4.1.1 (if 4.1.1 does not work, try 4.1.0) otherwise some of the menu choices are not present

    Just dial the following keys *#197328640#

    Main Menu > [1] UMTS > [1] Debug Screen > [8] Phone Control > [6] Network Lock > Options [3]Perso SHA256 OFF > (after choosing this option, wait about 30 seconds, then go back one step by pressing the Menu button then select Back, now you are in [6] Network Lock then choose [4] NW Lock NV Data INITIALLIZ ..... wait for a minute then reboot your phone... enjoy!!! There is no confirmation on the phone that the unlock was successfull.... just reboot your phone....

    To test, just insert a sim card from a different carrier/provider. If the new sim card works then your phone is now unlocked.

    I have done this to my other Note 2 N7105 originally locked to Orange.....

    ========================================

    Do this procedure AT YOUR OWN RISK

    ========================================

    To those who were able to unlock their phone with the method above, can you please post in the thread and let us know which phone model (N7100 or N7105) you have, Country and Network/Carrier your phone was locked to...... and if I have saved you some cash, please click the Thanks button or the Donate button on the left just below my name to buy me a can/bottle of Heinekken, Quilmes, Budweiser, Fosters, Tiger, Stella Artois, or San Miguel :cyclops: ...

    ========================================

    NOTICE:

    To those having "Conditional Call Forwarding" pop up message or similar pop ups appear everytime you make a call (but they disappear within a few seconds), this is normal with an old sim card, or when using a ported number. There is no restriction to calls or internet or whatever. This is confirmed by my provider when I walked in and asked them about it. They even showed me one of their sample Note 2's and S3's having the same message.

    ========================================

    I have mentioned in my old thread that there was a pop up message that says "Conditional call forwarding active" everytime I make a phone call using another SIm card that the phone was not able to use before unlocking.

    I can confirm that this was due to my Sim card. It is a very old O2 sim card that I have used for years. I have tried that Sim card on another factory unlocked phone (Galaxy i8160 bought from P4u) and it had the same message.

    It seems that 4.1.1 it was there, but they removed it in 4.1.2 (just last week) -- and, naturally, I only decided to travel to the US (and hence looked for unlocking howto) after I upgraded ;)

    If that's the case, obviously Samsung is taking out this option. If so, like BajanMan said, flash previous version using ODIN and then unlock your Note 2.

    Speaking of Previous Version, you can find previous Firmwares over at SamMobile. It seems you are in Luck. They have KIES Version of 4.1.1 for your NOTE 2. This should be walk in a park as you don't have to use ODIN. Just use KIES to go backwards. Unlock it and then go back Forward again.

    Kindly hit the Thanks button if this was useful.

    Hey guys, I just wanted to know is this a permanent unlock. I mean if I go back to stock will it reset my sins as well? Thanks

    Sent from my SGH-I317M using xda app-developers app

    You need to go to church to reset your sins, not stock! ;)

    Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2

    This is really GREAT NEWS ...

    Have anyone tried to see if it still works after the FACTORY RESET.

    I did a factory reset on my AT&T model and the unlock was still intact!

    Can anyone confirm that this is a full sim unlock?

    I have tried 3, O2, giffgaff, and an Asian roaming sim and the phone have signal and does not prompt for network password like it did before unlocking...
