I flashed a ktoonez kernel and it booted to the lockscreen but the touchscreen is unresponsive and I can't turn off my phone. Is it ok to remove the battery? what should i do?

Decaturbob is right more info would be great. Sounds like either the kernel was the wrong one maybe TW vs Aosp. Or bad download or... just one of them things!
I'd grab either a fresh KToonsez file or dirty flash your rom back and take it from there. Always wipe cache/Dalvic too after flashing a kernel... I do it before too for good measure.

Assuming he's on MDK of course... I don't think flashing a kernel on SS will do anything at all would it?? When I had a SafeStrap S4 I played around with that and it never did anything for me.... Damn kernel lock
