If I want to flash my unlocked and TWPM-ed HTC One X+ back to as close to stock as possible (Scotts ROMs probably), where do I push the boot.img and related files to?
First make sure that you have the HTC OneX "evita" version of TWRP (Team Win Recovery Project) and/or any ROMs you get, etc..., not ones that are meant for the "endeavor" which is for the European model with the quadcore CPU etc...
I would suggest downloading
Hasoon's HTC-OneX-AIO Tool. It is very easy to use and the guy has done a great job of packaging a very noob friendly application. You can also modify it if you wish to include your own recoveries, kernels, etc... Although I haven't done that myself because for one I haven't needed to and secondly I don't with the demon that bricks phones (Has to be a demon because it weren't my fault, lol).
Anyway if you use your recovery to do all the necessaries coupled with
HTC One X (Evita) All-In-One Toolkit V1.1 instead of using ADB or Fastboot via the commandline it will make sure all the right bits end up in all the right spots. If you use your Recovery to flash your ROM you can put the zip file anywhere you want on your SD card I normally keep all mine in my goomanager folder. By the way I recommend using a ROM manager like
goomanger when looking for ROMs for your phone. Be sure though that you only get "evita" compatible ones as goomanger returns results for "endeavor' ROMs too when searching for compatibles.
However if you want to flash each bit to its respective spot on your phone I would suggest using Fastboot over ADB it is by far the easiest of the two to use. If you want to flash (ADB it's push) to the Boot partition it's pretty simple.
For the boot partition it's:
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
For the recovery partition it's:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Most boot image file are called boot.img so you don't have to change boot.img to whatever yours may be called and the same for the other *.img files. The only exception that doesn't generally follow this is regarding the recovery images they are often specifically named as they are not packaged into zips. At least this is my interpretation as to why it is this way.
If you want to flash each partition this way via the commandline extract "yourEvitaRomOfChoice.zip files to the directory on your computer where you are running fastboot from. Here is a link for the commands you will need to use for both
Fastboot and
ADB. Also make sure to first do a full backup of your current ROM before you wipe all the partitions and install a new ROM.
Here is one more link regarding ADB and Fastboot that I found helpful from this site

I hope all this helps you and even though some of it may be a bit redundant for you as it sounds like you know some of what I covered in my ramble, I wrote it out as fully as I did for others that may happen across your post and may need the little extras I through in.
In closing I would also suggest that you research as much as you can about what you are trying to accomplish and if you find a How-To that is extremely complex try to find one that isn't. Most of the brutally complex ones are older and as time goes on they get more refined and simpler to do. So if the post is old try looking for a newer one. Hope you have a great day and don't give up it's only Rocket Science and all written in Greek as well, anyone can do it if you don't mind having a stroke or two from all the strain. lol
And if I lost you along the way, I lose myself half the time, please reply and I will help out as best I can. And if anyone notices that I have made any errors please let me know where I went wrong so I don't continue to do things wrong. Thanks

That link is dead (dies every time the software is updated I imagine).
The HTC Support page triple-w htc dot com/www/help (usual link format blocked till 10 posts - the spam thing
) contains the HTC Sync download to the right.
here's the link for
htcSync
However I would recommend using this driver instead if it's the driver aspect that you are wanting over using htcSync itself. Sometimes htcSync can interfere with rooting and related activities, I haven't experienced this myself but then I took the advice I read and used this driver instead
HTCDriver3.0.0.007.exe
I check all links that I post in threads each time I use them to make sure that they are still live. So at the time of posting they are valid. As to whether they are an hour from now (hopefully not that short lol) I cannot guarantee. If you find a link that is dead feel free to PM me about it, but please try to find one yourself instead of being as lazy I as I sometimes have been guilty of. Have a great day
