Mate actually there is a bug. Battery calibration.
I've noticed many roms around have this feature, some kind of auto-calibration script, which is kinda useful. I'll make an example of real life with your rom: 40% battery -> reboot -> battery is now at 54% -> I make a call, battery drains insanely fast, goes down to 37% for just a 2min call (so 40% was correct) -> I connect the phone to a charger -> in less than 10mins goes from 37% to 75%... Simply: WTF??!?
By the way... amazing work! Love your rom.... might be cool trying the dolby mobile.. ;) luv u!!

luv u 2

I know this has been addressed earlier. However, I am still having the dialer freeze after have the phone running for about 2 days.

Its only freezing on the main dialer screen and only when its searching to auto complete once you've dialed a number or two.

I've wiped and flashed 2 times now to double check everything is right. I'm on 2.4 with Faux kernel 5u

Edit: needed to add that this is by far the best rom, thank you so much!
Easy fix for your dialer freeze issue. Extract the contacts.apk and contactproviders.apk and use es file explorer to move to system/app deleted the contacts.apk and contactproviders.apk and install the one's you've extracted from the latest version of this ROM. Here at the apks if you don't feel like extracting them. I have had 0 freezes with the new contact and contact providers apk. Make sure to set permissions to rw-r-r

I always use this App for calibration and is nice and easy:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nema.batterycalibration

Regarding your battery issues with calls, I have had no such issues on any HNS build. When I was new to the Droid scene on Desire/HD I learnt that each device will react differently in terms of battery drain dramatically, according to the Radio/RIL combination.
I would maybe have a look in the Radio thread and try to find your best solution. It may take a bit of testing, but you will reap the rewards eventually:

http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?p=16332375

EDIT: Disregard, I just read your post again, and yes it points to a Batterystats issue and not drain. Apologies.

Regards.

nop contact changes was made on 2.0 and 2.4
Cool I hope that helps the guy out with his dialer issues. I noticed the dialer freezing issues only happened in v2.1 when I flashed the facebook contact sync zip from the original HyperNonSense ROM. I went back and extracted the apks from your version 2.1 and all has been well ever since. That was about 2 weeks ago. You did an excellent job. I have 0 bugs to report. I'm going to try the modified Hulu apk later today.

Notification LED

I'm not sure if this is just specific to this ROM...but if I receive a SMS while I already have the messaging app open, the notification LED will keep flashing.

The only way to stop the notification LED flashing, is to exit the messaging app, and pull down the notification bar (which is empty, because I have already read the message while the app was open) and close the notification bar again.

Other than that, this ROM is pretty sweet!

I've just trying build my own ROM (testing purpose) using HyperNonSense as a base, then modify it because I need HTC Location & HTC Reader to be able to run.

All I want to say is that HyperNonSense insanely fast and awesome. I've just got 54.1 fps on NenaMark using the 'publicly forbidden' kernel (AnthraX Kernel by chad).

This ROM just suits my needs, HyperNonSense while HyperSensation simply can't.

I'm trying the Faux 005 Kernel out today.

Everything seems to work well, except battery temps are displaying between 50 and 60 degrees Fahrenheit.

That can't be right, can it? It was showing 80-95 with Sebastian's kernel.

I mean the room the phone is in is 72 degrees. So you'd think it'd be at least the ambient temperature. And I can feel it getting warmer in my hand (not hot, just not 50 degrees). 50-60 just seems way too cold to be real. Is it?

Is there a calibration issue or break in period before you get good thermal readings on a new Kernel?

@SkipJacks,

It tends to varie a great deal. The Sensation has always been known for concerns over fluctuations in temperature. You only have to Google it to see how widespread the concern is.

Don't worry too much, HTC have a failsafe mode that not many users realise that kicks in if the device gets too hot. (Restart.)

A little tip for an accurate reading is to dial:-

*#*#4636#*#*

And this will give you a information screen as shown in my attached picture.

(I always tend to stick to stock Kernel on HNS.)

But once again, don't worry, remember we own a Dual-Core CPU monster, that has no fan/Heat sync, combined with room temperature, and our hot hands.

Cheers. ;)

Oh I wasn't overly worried about it overheating. I was just surprised to see it reading such a LOW temperature.

Especially since it was running 30 degrees hotter on Sebastian's kernel and earlier Faux kernels. It's definitely colder than it was with other kernels, as judged by how hot it feels in my hand. It's not even comparable. Today is the first day since I've had the phone that the metal casing has been physically cold to the touch.

I ran the system stats code thing you suggested and it gave me the same results that my widget gives me. So I guess the temp is accurate.

I just found it strange that I can be in a 72 degree room all day and have the phone battery be 59 degrees. (Maybe it has low blood pressure... :D) Plus it's all metal parts that bleed heat easily so I can see how it could be lower than ambient temps.

Thanks for your thoughts!

What is the performance difference between HyperNonSense, and HyperSensation?
Also I have an addon request. How about a modified Hosts file, that will block most ADs. When I am on weak connection, those Ads really slow things down. Plus I am sick of them getting in the way when I am playing Birds!

    Updated finer volume control mod!

On request from alpha_dro, who was also gracious enough to serve as a guinea pig and test everything below, I have updated the finer volume control mod based on the 3.9 release.

The mod increases the number of steps in the various volume controls based on this great thread from AndroidON.

Basically it gives you finer volume control, more discrete levels to get the perfect level.

It does not increase the volume levels

If you want that go here to Mudhi's thread.

The standard number of levels is below for the various sounds. So if you are in a voice call, and you hit the side volume buttons, you only get 5 levels, or 6 actually counting silent If you are playing a song in Winamp you can choose 15 different levels.

    # - Control
    5 - Voice Call
    7 - System
    7 - Ring
    15 - Music (includes movies)
    7 - Alarm
    7 - Notifications
    15 - Bluetooth
    7 - System Enforced
    15 - DTMF
    15 - TTS
    15 - FM

Not all of them are used as there are only ten values in the table entry for the mod file, either DTMF or TTS is missing, not sure how to test it but doesn't matter I think.

So I made 2 versions, take your pick.

    Finer Control
    # - Control
    10 - Voice Call
    10 - System
    10 - Ring
    24 - Music (includes movies)
    10 - Alarm
    10 - Notifications
    24 - Bluetooth
    10 - System Enforced
    24 - DTMF
    24 - TTS
    24 - FM

    Finest Control
    # - Control
    15 - Voice Call
    15 - System
    15 - Ring
    30 - Music (includes movies)
    15 - Alarm
    15 - Notifications
    30 - Bluetooth
    15 - System Enforced
    30 - DTMF
    30 - TTS
    30 - FM

Just to be clear, the "Original" version just flashes the original unmodified framework.jar back to /system/framework. Flash normally in recovery.

If you have issues using PowerAmp, try changing your settings like below.
Power Amp settings - Audio Engine - Advanced Tweaks - Uncheck 'Direct Volume Control'

    HyperNonSense-FinestVolumeLevels.zip - 4.37 MB
    HyperNonSense-FinerVolumeLevels.zip - 4.37 MB
    HyperNonSense-OriginalVolumeLevels.zip - 4.37 MB

In addition, I have done the Volume Key wake mod, plus a removal package if you change your mind.

    HyperNonSense3.9Rom-Wake_VolumeKey.zip - 262.52 KB
    HyperNonSense3.9-Rom-Remove-Wake_VolumeKey.zip - 266.07 KB

    Enjoy!
