The files to change quick launch icons are contained in /system/app/systemUI.apk/res/drawable_hdmi

The icons are quick_panel_icon name here.

Should I flash this kernel even if I am having no problems?? Is this your custom kernel of the last update Sammy rolled out, Jocala? And many thanks big guy!

no dice...same black screen when i try and boot recovery...and then i have to battery pull before i can get it on and in download mode again

By flahsing the Peach Sunrise v2.04, am I automatically get the updated kernel?
I guess, I am confused reading from your OP post#1 where it talks about A Rooted Rom and Custom rooted kernel. Under Rooting, it says two known methods......it says...If you are unsure of which rooting method to use, selected rooted ROM.

So, if I select the custom rooted ROM (i.e. Peach Sunrise)......at that point, I am done, and I do not need to flash the kernel.

correct? sorry.....it has been difficult to grasp....

Peach Sunrise is also Android 2.3.6 and includes kernel 1.8. It's based on the ROM in the OP of this thread. Once you flash it you are done.

Sorry, I'm not sure what issue you're describing...please give more detail.

When I go to the settings app, below display, there's an option where you can update the rom but everytime I try to perform the update, my phone freezes and an error message pops up. Here's a pic of what it looks like.

That is the older version of Rebel ROM if you DL update me smartphone from play it will work but there isnt a ROM update as of yet.

You are running a custom ROM, RebelROM. If you post in the RebelROM Thread you can get help specific to your ROM.

Is it OK to switch back and forth between custom ROMs after initial the installation of cwm?
For example, right now, I have just the original handset, then I was thinking to install Peach Sunrise using cwm, then if I want to switch to say CM9, is it easy to do? I would need to follow directions such as backups and wiperom, but anything in particular that I should be cautious about?
In a worst case if I screw up badly during the installation or whatever, I can always come back to the original by using flash2stock.

I keep a backup of each rom that uses my kernel and switch between them at will.

Here's how I do it: I install a rom, get it set up exactly how I like, then make a nandroid backup. Then all I have to do is pop into cwm and restore the backup for whatever rom I want to run.

When I do an initial install of a rom I always start clean. I romwipe, then install. Then I install (not restore) apps. For convenience I store the apks for my must have apps on external_sd.

Edit: yes, flash2stock will restore your phone to 2.3.6 stock including kernel & recovery.

if you delete telephony.apk phone.apk and wifi calling the fc stops but then it isnt much of a phone lol
