The end result is that I have to flash back to the kernel I was previously using. There's nothing in the Flashtool log (attached) to suggest any problem with the flashing either, and there's been no problem flashing any .img or .sin files until now - so I assume my phone's bootloader IS properly unlocked and I have all the correct drivers installed etc. I recently unlocked my bootloader (with wotanserver.com - test point method) and have since been trying out new kernels - there's been no problem flashing .img & .sin files until now.
Am I overlooking something obvious here? Would be very glad to get someone's opinion on this one..
Device: ST18i (unlocked bootloader)

That does happen when something goes wrong when putting together a kernel. For example, i did split a kernel into unpacked ramdisk and kernel image to change kernel logo, frequencies, etc. After putting that back together to a boot.img, it flashed ok, but after kernel logo the phone stayed black. I haven't figured out yet what exactly produces that error. Maybe i did some changes to my operating system (binaries in /usr/bin) and it has something to do with that, no idea.... because the same procedures worked a few months ago and i didn't get this error.
So.. either you did change something in the ramdisk or you downloaded a kernel that has the same problem, my guess.
