uuuu

it's fantastic, but i hadn't undestood if the staff have to be attached with scotch on the device.
can anyone explait it to me?

thanks

Well it's depends : usually the lense is stuck to the phone with a magnetic ring but with the case above the lens is screwed on the case (it's a specific case).

I like how close you can get to the fly without it being blurry. Is that because you have that lens on the phone or was that the standard lens?

Fisheye lens + back cover hard case Review + MOD

Hi guys,

Thanks to mesh626, I bought the following fisheye lens with the "hard cover case" included (http://www.ebay.com/itm/320996917768).

The Review

  • The main advatage of this product on other lens we've seen, is that the lens is actually screwed into the case.
So it can't get off easily and the lens is always properly set on front of the phone camera.
I find this solution more reliable and safe than the one with the magnet.

  • About the hard cover case itself, it's a really cheap one, the plastic is very hard and feels kind of "rittle" (I got no issue so far, thought).
This case is also very "slicky" because the plastic is slick and because there is no grip on it.

  • Here is a few pictures of the case and of the fixation mecanism.
:

img0568ce.jpg

img0570by.jpg

img0572yy.jpg

img0573jk.jpg

img0574sr.jpg

img0575bj.jpg

  • About the lens itself, it's shipped with a plastic protection and a little tissue bag,it's very convenient.
The lens looks well-made, and looks very good too. It's steel and glass made so I don't worry about the quality.
The scew thread work good, no real issue here. Once it's screwed, it won't get off, it's really trustworthy.

  • So here is few pictures of the lens :

img0578rj.jpg

img0579rr.jpg

img0580wcr.jpg

img0583at.jpg

img0584iv.jpg

img0586sz.jpg

  • About the pictures made by this lens, I can say it's pretty good, no real concern here, the 180° promised are actualy 170° but it's OK.
I didn't made tons of pictures with it since it have been really rainy and cold those days :

Without the lens :

With it ;

The lens does great macro pictures too.

The MOD 1/2

  • Previously I bought a wide/macro lens kit which use magnet to hold on the phone.
I wanted to use this case a "photo case" so I wanted to use the other kit with this case.

Problem : the hole in the case isn't big enough to let the magnet works and hold the lens :

The other lens :
img0588wp.jpg

The hole with the lens :
img0589dn.jpg

  • So I've just cut the plastic to make it bigger enough for the lens.
I've used a cutter, the plastic wasn't too tough.

img0590er.jpg

img0591ho.jpg

Now :
img0593nu.jpg

There is no problem with the regular fisheye lens as the screw thread is untouched. :

img0592ft.jpg

  • I've put a magnetic ring on the back cover of the phone and it's works perfectly :

img0596gh.jpg

macro lens :
img0597wu.jpg

wide angel :
img0598us.jpg

  • It's even better than without the case because the screw thread force the lens to be in the midlle of the phone camera.
I don't have to worry anymore about center the lens correctly.

MOD 2

  • The other probleme of this case was that it was very slicky and I felt bad about it.
So I decided to put a sticker on it to make a grip.
  • I've choosed a 3d carbon immitation sticker (about 2€ for 20*15cm).
Now it's substantially better and has a pretty good lokking.

That's all, feel free to contribute and to ask me anything if you want precisions.

I had my lenses for a while and I had a few problems using them with some of my cases, so I modified before using just a washer, buy it looked kind of ugly, so now I modified them using the following,,

Fiber washer from home depot 3/8 id X 5/8 OD
And 7/16 ID X 3/4 OD

The Oem washers that come with the lenses and 3M plastic emblem and Trim Adhesive that I got from auto parts store

First, using a toothpick I added a small amount of adhesive the Fiber washer and set it center on the clear case, after I got it exactly where I wanted it, I added more adhesive thru the inside of the washer, then I added the metal washer that was included with the lenses, I did the same to my DBA case also.

On my otterbox I glued the metal washer to the case from the outside , I could have clean it up a bit but then I got lazy lol
Hope this helps

Hey guys! I just got the S3 yesterday coming from the vibrant and wanted to show how the lens work on our phones. I previously had them for my vibrant and wanted to try it out on the S3. Was a little concerned because the back cut out for the camera is a little raised instead of it being flat like the vibrant. The reason for this is because you put a metal ring with adhesive on one side to stick on the phone then attach the magnetic lens which will snap on easily. Later on I decided to remove it and would put it on a case instead which will have a flat back. The adhesive is pretty strong and won't leave any residue on your phone.

How do you seperate the wide and macro lenses from eachother? do they pull apart or unscrew or some kind of bayonet fixture? I ask because I was given a lenes set that looks just like that but can't figure out how to seperate them.

There's some available on ebay now that have the clips if people are interested - Although I can't post at moment due to being a newbie!

I'm not a big photographer but tempted to try the magnetic ones just for a bit of fun

Here is the link where I bought it from. You can also check out eBay where they sell them for cheaper (barely found out after purchasing from amazon)

I usually crop them because I don't like the vignetting. These are the 6MP because it's wider and easier to crop.

I couldn't glue the ring because I was having a very difficult time and didn't want to keep messing up the case with dry superglue. So I went to Lowes and bought some washers that are a bit bigger than the rings and superglued it on my TPU case. I put the lens on and it was a perfect fit! It can even hold my super fisheye lens! lol

The washers I bought are 5/16. I think you can pull it off with 1/4 which is smaller.
