These are not really necessary. He will have root adb shell right after flashing 4ext. Just reboot to recovery connect to PC and type in cmd:

Trust me, for the problem i had this didn't work, I tried that and failed. I haven't had root access until i flashed SuperUser and a custom ROM.
And i think to have the command "su" works that way you have to be rooted at the first place. If not then there is no point of a temp-root access tool like Tacoroot.

But I never said your procedure is wrong. If misc version change in recovery fails he can always proceed according to your steps

Just a sidenote: the temp root tools like ZergRush and TacoRoot are intended for S-ON and locked devices which will not be the case here after using htcdev.com
The custom recovery is able to mount the system partition as writable which is called "root access"
