But since we'll assume you have, check under Settings > Accounts & Sync > Google > (click your email address) > Then turn off "Internet". Even when I had "auto sync" turned off 100% of the time, come to find out it was still attempting to sync at some point, and the "Internet" under Google refused to sync in my situation. Causing the battery to drain faster than I've ever seen.
