Good question.. I switched over to AnTuTu CPU Master Pro when I got this device because it seems that's what most people are using for it. I haven't had any issues with it.

Thanks. Ill try it out.

Edit: my Max is still 1512, is this correct? Should it be higher?

The lib files tell Antutu CPU Master what values it can use. So it sounds like they didn't get pushed correctly.

Hmm.. okay.

I installed the kernel first, then CPU Master, then I checked CPU Master and the default was set to 384-1566 and it gave me options of 1566, 1728, 1782, 1836, 1890, and 1944. I tried it at 1782 and benchmarked it. Then I pushed the lib files and reset the phone. Nothing in CPU Master changed, but my benchmark scores did go up..

is there any reason why i would only be seeing 1512MHz in setcpu? I have followed all of the instructions to a T. Should I not be using setcpu?
I use SetCPU and have had no issues, I don't really care for AnTuTu.

Sounds to me like your libs were not pushed to the device as those are what tells the cpu scaling app you use what the max frequency is

Hmmm I may be mistaken then. My bad. I'm not a dev but I did stay in a Hotel 8 rather than a Holiday Inn last night....

Can someone with an OC of at least 1.8ghz run sunspider and browsermark? I'm interested to see how much better web browsing is...I found it to be a little sluggish at stock speeds

using: OC kernel @ 1836 max/192 min, ondemand governor, TPCv2 ROM, ADW EX launcher, Dolphin HD browser:

Never done these before... How are my results?

Thanks for doing that! The results are decent I would say. I would have thought the browsermark score would have been better with that sunspider score. TF Prime gets almost double in browsermark and around 1600 for sunspider. Here is a link on anandtech that shows a bunch of other scores as well.

http://www.anandtech.com/show/5563/qualcomms-snapdragon-s4-krait-vs-nvidias-tegra-3

Edit: I've seen some other scores on youtube and they are getting in the 80k range for browsermark...I wonder if the stock browser scores higher for some reason? I've noticed the sunspider is usually faster on anything but the stock browser but that browsermark is better on the stock.

So is installation totally different?

Updated first post with CWM zip including libs so you no longer have to push via adb/odin. Will update shortly with a return-to-stock CWM zip.

So to clarify, now the only steps in flashing this kernel is to:

1. Install CWM from here: http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1517134

2. Use Rom Manager to flash the zip file from your orignial post.

That's it? Or am I missing some steps?

1.) Install CWM from http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1517134
2.) Copy the cwm zip to your /sdcard/
2.) Reboot into CWM either by issuing "adb reboot recovery" from command line, or loading ROM Manager app and choosing "Reboot into recovery", or by powering the device off and holding vol up+vol down and powering on.
3.) From CWM, choose "install zip from internal sd card" then navigate to the cwm zip you copied in, select it
4.) Select "reboot system"

Done and done! Adding this to first post.

Thanks for the instructions, and for all your hard work too. You have made me and my Note a happy couple!

All thanks to you DA_G! that's not even cranked up to over 1800 either!

So, this doubles as a root kernel (might as well keep the scripts in there since I already made 'em!), custom boot animations (/system/media/sanim.zip), init.d support.

Max speed is 1.94GHz. Max speed I've benchmarked stable at is 1.83GHz. Reboots at higher.. YMMV with voltage adjustments etc.

Stock speed on this kernel is 1566MHz, I have removed a lot of scaling overrides that Samsung added, so this should be a bit smoother than the stock kernel without OCing more than the slight default.

    GPU is also OC'ed from 3d speed 266 -> 300 and 2d speed 200 -> 266.

I will be releasing a GUI soon with more advanced tweaking options for the kernel (it is compatible with existing tools like system tuner, fauxclock, setcpu, etc.)

I never learn my lesson about providing an ETA, keep slipping! I've got BFQ, CFQ, smartassv2, etc. etc. in now, just dotting some i's and crossing some t's.. coming soon! Lowered some default voltages on the higher end of the scale (1.89+) also since some people have reported stability at lower voltages at those speeds.

sgs kernel flasher will work if it read/writes to mmcblk0p8 (which is where the kernel lives on our device)

Long weekend.. working on a new build now ;)

HAVS is actually already built into the stock system. It scales according to demand from 3 separate units (the memory/bus subsystem, the GPU, and the CPU(s) )

The voltages you can set in system tuner/fauxclock/etc. only apply to the CPUs, once my app is out you'll be able to adjust GPU and L2 voltages/speeds as well.

The other governors etc. are coming shortly.. hopefully tonight ;)
