Kitkat plateau?

Have developers maxed out performance on Kitkat? It seems like development has slowed and I'm guessing that it's because we've done about all that can be done until L drops.

How do you mean? We have nearly every main aosp ROM as well as an array of sense roms varying in every way. As far as L goes we may see a few new roms pop up but the majority will still be the same roms updated to later versions
