[Q] Insert a SIM to send SMS?

What's the deal with certain ROMs saying "Insert a SIM to send SMS" every time i send a SMS through Hangouts?
So far DroidKang and AOKP does it.
Stock and Paranoid Android don't do it.

Does anyone have a fix to this?

You haven't said whether you already have a sim inserted. Of course you need one. If you do have one, maybe it's loose?

Sorry, I thought common sense would tell you that I have one installed since I can send and receive sms messages.
But to answer the question, yes, I do have a SIM installed.
