I can't get Skype or xfinity connect audio to work on my Venue 8. No one can hear me. There are several people with the same problem posting in the Dell support forum but since Dell provides almost zero support I thought I would ask here. TIA.

I used Skype on my Venue8 with my wife who was using a kindle Fire HDX7. I could see and hear her. I can't remember if she could hear me...but I know she definitely could not see me. Haven't tried it in a while.

Skype issues.

What is your Skype version?

I tried this version first and the sound worked but I couldn't see the other person but they could see me. They were using an ipad.

Someone recommended this version but I haven't tried it yet because it doesn't let me log in with my MS account and I'm not sure what my pre-MS-buying Skype account would be.

FYI, I've committed the cardinal sin by having 2 threads on same subject (HINT HINT forum mods, new Dell Venue needs it's own forum!)

If you go here http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?p=49901945#post49901945 message #518 on page 52 is my first post about skype and there are several responses that follow including the 2 recommended xda versions.

I posted over there after I got zero response here up until now. Unfortunately, that seems to be the only thread 99% of people are watching and its subject matter seems to be wide open for that reason imo.

Version 4.5.0.39600 currently. I downloaded directly from google play, it may have updated since I used it that one time. I'll try it again soon.

Just got my Venue 8, and Skype from google play didn't work out of the box. The version in the dropbox link works great. Just had a nice video chat. Thanks so much!

I know that Skype is good, but maybe you should check out Google Hangouts app. I don't have any problems or issues with it. Audio is working, video too. For me it's worth of trying alternative.

Latest Skype from Play store is working now

Just FYI, I installed the latest skype version 4.6.0.42007 and it's now working for me audio, video, etc.
