I've bought A Sansui Mobile, Model no: S66 from a Sansui Dealer in India. on 11/12/2013Though Looks wise it looks far better than the so called cheap Chinese phone, I was really disapointed to find it with the same MTK(Mediatek) chip based phone with the same "Cheap-chinese" User Interference which had only 123k phone memory with a Cr*py camera that doesn't function at all. though it had many features like answering machine, voice changer et.c like other chiunese mobiles have, due to lack of phone memory these are all useless. As a "Nokia-Hater" my next disapontment was while i was trying to upgrade the inbuilt Operamini browser, it showed as "your phone is Nokia-2600" and couln't update it as it needed 150k free space and the phone displayed insufficient memory. Since yeterday ie. on the very next day it started switching off after ending every application. that means, if I press the End key(RedKey) or soft key as indicated to end any application, it switches off. sometimes in the middle of the anongoing call it goes off automatically. Everyboby finds my mobile switch off! Please suggest me How can iincrease the phone memory. I am not an ordinary user, I am an advance user with tecnical bacground ms. Please help me if possible plese help me to upgrade the firmware and please suggest what information(s) do i need to provide here to help me.Thank you all in advance!

I have a mtk6577 Brondy Luxory 2, with the usual 500mb of data partition and 2gb of sd partition. I have tried all possible methods to partition it. From recovery, flashing ebr with SPFlashTool, using apps like Mt657xRepartition.apk etc. but nothing. The sd partition become 512mb from 2gb but partition data remains always 512mb, even after repeated wipes from recovey... with meteos I have partitioned a lot of MTK6589 and always everything has gone perfect. any idea? thank you and sorry for my poor english

ok, I solved it by changing MTK6575_2gb_for apps_512_internal memory.zip/MTK6575-2.5G_for App_Angelobiz.zip ("vold.fstab" and "vold.fstab.nand" inside system/etc)

Hi,

This is a tablet.

I have attached a screenshot.

The app partition is only 1GB but I would like 3GB.

Tablet is 16GB version with 13GB free as internal SD. I also have 32GB external SD.

Any ideas on how I can do this? I tired those partition apps but all fail and I have to restore the tablet to factory to boot it.

hi, i am planing to get a hdc note 3 max n9006 model mobile..a chinese clone phone...but it has a mtx 6589 quad core processor clocked @1.3ghz...:cool:

my question is it shows a 32gb internal memory but in real it has a 4gb...so can i increase the internal memory by flashing with this tool...:confused::confused:

I try it by my self to change the EBR file with little success and a lot of headache...

I Change one number and my internal sotorage rises to 2.71GB :victory:
so far so good...
but after phone start error message phone storage is demaged format bla bla
after formating the phone storage it shows 1.75GB and the internal still 2.71GB :silly: :confused:

For test... when downloading one app from the store, the blue bar load and load but nothing happens.

I think the reason is i only change the size of the Internal Storage, but not the startpoint of the Phone storage. So that both overlap theoretically. :rolleyes:

If i have a little bit more time this days, i will try it again

here you have explained with quite detail what should be done, the author is meteos, the same author of the meteos apk for changing these parameters in an automatic way

the post is in spanish, but you can use google translate, I am copying the text of the post now, but there are a couple of images missing

if you need help with the translation other than google's ask for it, but I resume it, with mtk6589 you have to change 3 different values, one in EBR1 and two in EBR2 following the instructions in the post

as an example I upload the EBR files original and modified for a 2.5 gigs for the Star_W450, files extracted from the rom Star_W450_20131108

En este tutorial explicaré el patrón que se sigue para aumentar a la cantidad deseada la partición data en los teléfonos MTK6589 (al menos en los de 4GB o 8GB de ROM), el almacenamiento interno destinado a aplicaciones.

Para ello hay que modificar dos archivos, EBR1 y EBR2. En realidad se sigue el mismo método o patrón que en los MTK6577, lo que ocurre es que en estos únicamente existía el archivo EBR1, ahora una de las líneas que había que tocar está en el archivo EBR2.

Lo primero que necesitaremos es un editor hexadecimal, como no uso Windows no puedo recomendaros ninguno concreto. En mi caso el que he utilizado es Hex Fiend, para Mac OS X. Cualquiera debería servir.

Para explicarlo todo una imagen vale más que mil palabras.

Fijaos en la imagen, arriba los EBR1 y EBR2 para una partición data de 1GB, abajo los correspondientes a 1.5GB para aplicaciones.

Son 3 los valores a modificar. Uno en el EBR1 y dos en el EBR2.

- El señalado en rojo en EBR1 por cada incremento de ~0.5GB de la partición data, el primer carácter aumenta también en +1.

- En EBR2 como decía son dos valores a modificar. El primero de ellos por cada incremento de ~0.5GB aumentará +1 su primer carácter, por el contrario el segundo valor lo disminuiremos en -1 por cada incremento de ~0.5GB.

Siguiendo este patrón y partiendo de la configuración base que suelen llevar los teléfonos MTK6589 (1GB o 1.5GB para aplicaciones) podemos aumentar el Almacenamiento interno a la cantidad que deseemos.

Para saber que valores debemos poner basta conocer que en hexadecimal la serie de valores es la siguiente con respecto al sistema decimal:

Y para el que no quiera molestarse en calcularlos, estos son los valores que habría que introducir para cada una de las distintas posibilidades (tamaños aproximados):

Advertencia, estos son los valores que encontramos en la mayoría de teléfonos que se han visto hasta ahora, antes de cambiarlos comprobar primero los que vienen en el EBR1 y EBR2 originales y si coinciden con los indicados en la lista para el tamaño actual de la partición data, podemos tomar los correspondientes de la misma a la capacidad deseada. En caso contrario, se deberán calcular manualmente siguiendo lo indicado en el tutorial.

Como detalle adicional mencionar que si modificamos el segundo carácter siguiendo el mismo patrón que el utilizado para el primero, conseguiremos un incremento de aproximadamente +30MB por cada aumento en +1 en los valores a modificar (+1 en el EBR1 y primer valor del EBR2, en el segundo valor de este ya sabemos que hay que disminuir -1). Esto puede servir si queremos ajustar al máximo el tamaño de la partición data dejando un resto mínimo para la SD interna (Almacenamiento del teléfono).

I have tired loads of these from other 16gb mk6589 and also tired to modify mine with no joys.


If anyone has time and knows how to create working EBR, i would appreciate it.

I have attached stock EBR and scatter file.It has 16GB with 13GB as internal SD and leaving 1GB for apps. ideally I want 3GB for apps.

    Problem painful of all phones with the latest generation processors MTK was the system of Android installed on a primary partition very small!

    Now I have tried to increase the primary partition !

    Now no one can say it is not enough for the primary partition to install applications!

    To saturate this partition it takes!

    PROCEDURE:

    More important first of all is to check the drivers if are installed correctly!
    try this last adb android :http://ge.tt/2yL21VT[/SIZE]


    1)You can flash or together the original firmware !
    copy and replace the original ebr 1 and 2 and flash with flashtool together the firmware and make (firmware upgrade) !

    2) After on the firmware that was preinstalled .. ...always using flashtool !
    If you flash after the installation of the original firmware ...you can select only the two file ebr 1 and 2 ..and make download....... but you clear your custom on your phone!

    The Correct procedure to flash is :

    1) turn off the phone
    2) remove battery and replace it without turn on the phone!
    3) run flashtool with scatter file and the only two flags on the ebr 1 and 2
    4) make download to the program flashtool
    5) connect the usb cable to the pc

    Download the original firmware and copy in this folder (the folder where do you unzip the firmware), the two ebr and try again!
    This is the correct procedure...but make attention to not select all the files but only the two ebr!

    In some situations that is not a bug...but is that after flash the ebr 1 and 2 the second partition must be formatted from the pc!

    1) connect the phone to the pc with usb cable
    2) Accept the to run on the usb storage in quick menu
    3) In this moment the pc recognize the first partition....but we must enter on file manager or resources of the pc and click on the secondary storage!
    4) The pc recognize that this secondary storage or partition is not formatted and says :Do you want to format this partition?
    5) Say yes to the format procedure!

    More Attention to the drivers if are correctly installed:

    the debuging mode is when the phone is turn on but you must turn off the phone and remove the battery and replace it and DO NOT TURN ON!
    If you say the phone is in charge ......this situation arrive after .....
    You must connect the cable after you have run the flashtool to download button and in this phase the phone is connecting to the program (flashtool) but if this connection is broken arrive the charge phase!
    You do not arrive in this phase....probably you do no have the right drivers installed !
    Retry to reinstall the drivers adb android:

    EDIT: Does anybody realize that once you resize partitions you really should format both data and storage in recovery? The partition table will be all messed up and in many cases device won't boot, I didn't see this mentioned in OP?

    For those interested (technical users),

    It's possible to combine both storage for shared/emulated system, a la Nexus devices (and any quality device). We did this for latest Xtreamer MTK's. It requires modifying the ramdisk and also MountService however, which can be done in smali. But this is not a "one fits all" thing, it's a per-device thing so obviously not easy to do.

    I could write a guide but I really don't have the time. If anybody wants to however, visit our firmware download forums and compare the following code between 3.x.x and latest 4.x firmware for the Ban-G:

    - init.* (ramdisk/initrd)
    - MountService (in services.jar)
    - Maybe some more code elsewhere in framework, not sure
    - A few binaries from memory, specifically /bin/sdcard and /bin/vold. Can be ripped from Ban-G 4.x firmware if you're running Android 4.2.x (most MT6589's are).
    - vold fstab's

    Maybe someone with some more time can then write a guide for it. In fact this method will work with any device. Obviously with the EBR files you will to remove the "fat" partition, you can leave the offset as anything and just set size to 00. And give all that extra space to data of course, so if you have a 16GB phone you should be able to get around 12-13GB of capacity on data *and* storage, shared.

    Notice - Mass Storage mode impossible with shared storage, switch to MTP mode (via build.prop or setprop if necessary).

    Good luck! But if nobody writes a guide, wants this and can't do it themselves... well, should of bought an Xtreamer ;)

    EDIT: P.S. for non Windows users and other advanced users, you can also write the EBR's directly via adb shell - if your device kernel exposes them. So far every MT6589 device I've seen does.
