Gameboy Color on Galaxy Gear!
Just wanted to share my experience with a side loaded Gameboy emulator. Namely, Gameboy Color A. D.
I tried a couple different emulators and they all seemed to either have way to small buttons or buttons in weird places.
But not Gameboy Color A.D! D-Pad on the bottom left, buttons on the bottom right. Start/Select up top. Awesome.
Now there are some issues but I honestly haven't found them too annoying:
*WARNING: make sure you disable audio in the emulator or turn your multimedia volume down in the gear settings. Default volume levels are LOUD.
1: you cannot use the swipe down as a back button(I could using GBC Emu v1.5.8 but the on-screen buttons were to tiny to tap). Once the game is loaded your only option to leave is to tap the power button, that will take you to the home screen.
2: no save states. since we cant swipe to get to a menu we must rely on in-game saving. pokemon games work very well with this limitation. also, pokemon yellow is awesome.
3: edit: the app will hibernate in the background so in order to close it, so we can change roms settings etc, you can either restart your galaxy gear or, as Wrathlon pointed out, use a task manager to end it.
Well if that doesn't sound too bad you'll find the emulator runs surprisingly smooth with zero sound distortion(that I've encountered anyway).
The only game I have tested is Pokemon Yellow and it runs like a champ.
I used Moborobo to handle installing Galaxy Gear drivers, app installation of Gameboy Color A. D, and as a file manager to place the gameboy game in the devices "documents" folder.
If your looking for an app/file manager for your Galaxy Gear I definitely recommend Moborobo.
