Thinking like Linux, I figured the APKs in /data/app were not needed. I deleted them (after FTP backup). Then apps started crashing. So I forced a reboot and now the Nexus 5 is stuck in the animated GOOGLE boot logo. I cannot force it OFF as I cannot pull a battery. I want to reset it to factory.

Aside from letting the battery drain during this animated boot logo, how else can I force it OFF and/or reset it to factory

In understand that reseting to factory is VOL UP & DOWN and POWER buttons.

I resolved this issue with:

Nexus ROOT Toolkit v1.8.0 to reset to factory

I am now back to factory

BTW, do NOT delete APKs from /data/app unless you do not want that app anymore.
