Rooted but still no candy (or condi :)

you can, if you had root before and you have a working _hack_recovery.zip

here is the procedure:

* copy the _hack_recovery.zip to sdcard
* go to recovery mode (press and hold Vol+ and press power)
* put sd card in tablet and select to apply updates from _hack_recovery.zip
* This will fail, but after that you can give "adb shell" command from computer to gain shell access
* run /system/bin/tempsu to gain root user access (this will work only if u had root before u try the update)
* mount /system as RW and copy the correct region.zip

hope this helps.. i had the same issue, and i unbricked like this..

Hey I'm in almost the same position... but this method didn't work for me.
I have a Sony Tablet S, rooted R5a (has been working fine for months) but suddenly it now gets stuck on the startup animation after the logo. USB debugging was disabled before it got bricked :( All I can do is boot into recovery mode. I tried factory reset (wipe data, cache, etc) but it didn't help. I tried updating stock r5a, pre-rooted r5a, and a few other verions from zip files in sdcard but all give the same "version/sku" error. The _hack_recovery I guess deosn't work for me because the tablet wasn't in USB debugging mode?
Is it possible to make any custom zip with a version number >121116036? Please? Anyone? If I can try to flash such a zip and it still fails then I'll know I have to send it to Sony...

Quick update: I sent it back to Sony. They did indeed replace a motherboard part. It came back factory reset and downgraded to the original honeycomb version. Took 1 week in total from collection to delivery... they paid for everything!

I just read your recovery.log for the first time, hdi-95, and recovery will not accept the links I posted previously -- or any build for that matter -- because region.zip on your device is corrupt. You should try to get service from Sony or do a store exchange. Sorry.

get one more file from recovery! /tmp dir:

    region.prop

I'm afraid to send it to sony and answer me "violation of terms of use" product warranty lost

    is there another solution ?

I am affraid there isn't any further options, mine was bricked too and they replaced a MTB chip which is very important, if all values are zero like mine were you could say like i did: I did a factory reset and it restarted then it didn't do anything anymore you must seek for a company in your envirement who are Sony certified they will send it to sony you only have to pay the sending costs, i did a recovery.log pull too and i sended it to Condi maby you could compare those to recovery logs
and see what are the difference.

I hope that condi might find a sollution, but i am still affraid that you will have to send it back,

    Sorry for my english

with sdcard install i don't try with a good update because i can't found

    signed-nbx03_001 .... ota update

    so ...

and for decrypted or signed some update with tool an adb debugging mode is require

    Code:
    [*]*****************************************************************[*]
        Instructions:
         1. Put your device in USB debugging mode. ROOT IS REQUIRED.
         2. Attach it via USB
         3. Run this script.

[*] Run device in normal boot.
    [*] Press enter to begin...

so i can't create a custom firmwire with good 'sku' parameter
