Wow you have to do all that... crazy! I'm coming from an HTC Thunderbolt and is so much simple. One click root and s-off with an unlocked bootloader. I'm wondering if i made the right choice now.

Hi and thanks.
Being a geek, I want to get to .902 and Eclipse 2.2
I use bootstrap and do not want to install safestrap.
If I want to go from rooted .901 to rooted .902, do I just flash the 901 -> 902 update in stock recovery as "apply update"???
If so, this is a very easy thing. otherwise, I am reluctant to go through a whole "go backwards to stock 893 so you can go forwards" thing, which is fraught with opportunities to brick.
Thanks. I just downloaded the 902 pathsaver and will cross my fingers and try it tonight.
As to safestrap, I dunno. Just seems like one more thing for me to screw up. It looks like it adds 20 extra steps to everything.
This is a one-click root. It's very easy - see step 11, I've just broken it down into very detailed steps for clarity. These directions also cover installing custom recovery, ROMs, themes, backup & restore, and tethering. But hey, if you want to go back to the Tbolt no one's going to stop you. Just don't whine in my thread! Try this: follow directions, come back, and post 'wow I can't believe how easy that was'.
In order to receive future OTAs...you may have to reflash the /preinstall folder. Luckily, the 902 update did not require this. That's the point of safestrap: you can keep a copy of your stock system
Thank you. Thank you, you are the man. I had rooted my bionic right after getting it in September 2011, but then with the automatic updates, I lost root and was unable to get it back. This guide worked perfectly.
I would like to give a "thanks" to tuckmobile but don't know how. Some help?
Does "forever root" still work with the new updates? If not, is there another app out there to ensure I don't loose root with the new updates?
Has anyone had any issues with the update phone in the settings. I clicked on it just to see what would happen and all I get is a white screen. I'm on the 902 update with Eclipse ROM. Just curious if this is happening to anyone else or just me.
i wanted to be the one to give you your 100th thanks, just got done with eclipse.... 100th proud sir thank you so much
I must have done something wrong. I just tried to install eclipse, all it would do for an hour is play the boot animation over and over. Had to pull the battery and to a restore of my back up. I am so new at this and want to be so much better.
I have a Motorola Bionic
I assume you are trying to enable the safesystem? Make sure you have sufficient free space on your internal sd card?
Forever-root was only relevant because, previously, 901 and 902 were not rootable. You had to forever-root an older version (like 893), then upgrade to 901/902. Now, the Motofail method works on any system version, so 43v3r r00t is no longer necessary.
Tuck..Great instructions. Anyone able to root using their laptop? -eye__dea
