Looking for an Epic 4G successor...
Epic's a decent phone, but my primary and secondary daily networks are GSM or HSPA, so a CDMA/WiMAX device is of little use in my hands. Thus I plan on finally selling my Epic and in turn buying a phone that serves as a wireless hotspot and social phone.
Currently, I'm eyeing an Epic's successor with the following simple requirements:
1. Dual-core + 1GB RAM + slide-out or clamshell QWERTY keyboard
2. Compatible with AT&T or T-Mobile HSPA, >=21Mbps down rate (my SIM is HSPA+ 21Mbps capable)
3. Readily available on China's web shopping platform Taobao (no eBay here, I'm Chinese), and price not too high
4. Decent XDA community or CM support
List of phones I have in mind and their cons:
Samsung GS Relay 4G: a bit pricey at $140, and not in stock now
Samsung Captivate Glide: Tegra 2 has no NEON support and is somewhat low in performance
HTC MyTouch 4G Slide: 14.4Mbps HSDPA, screen too small, lacking community love
Droid 3: 14.4Mbps HSPA, 512MB RAM (aww shucks, a near perfect choice if the RAM were bigger)
Droid 4 / Photon Q 4G LTE: >$160, too pricey
Does anyone have other decent choices you know or are looking at? Or is there any suggestion on which of the above I should buy? Thanks in advance.
