What CM10 ROM are you on? Works fine for me on SGA's CM10 with -4mA sleep ROM.
Motorola Droid 3
Android 2.3.4 (Stock Rooted)
CM10 (Kexec)

HP Touchpad
UnOfficial CM10 4.1.2

Default Re: Touchpad USB OTG Compatibility List

Also works on JcSullin's Cm10 experimental preview 3/4/13 release.
Keep in mind that you must have an externally powered otg adapter or hub for it to work. (I have received bad otg adapters from online stores before).

Thanks, I'm on that same ROM. I tried it again with my monitor's USB hub. The Host Diagnostics app now says that there is support, but I can't get anything I plug into the hub to actually work (thumb drive with StickMount, wired mouse, wireless keyboard). Maybe the hub in the monitor isn't properly powered. I've got a powered OTG Y cable on the way from eBay so I'll try it again then.

I got the Y-cable and everything seems to be working fine when it's plugged directly into the charger. I have one of those external battery packs and I can't get any OTG working with that as the power source. Is there something I can do to the cable to make the external battery pack provide power to the usb devices?

SMKE,

I don't recommend those USB "y" adapters because if it gets plugged into a typical usb charger with an OTG adapter it will kill data communication because most chargers have the "data" pins shorted together to enable "fast charge" (vs USB Charging under battery settings) . The OTG adapters with the 'power' pigtail are usually isolated from the power source to prevent this from happening.

Some iPad compatible chargers do not have the pins directly shorted. It's likely that your Battery Pack does. 2 options. Crack open the pack and figure out a way to cut/isolate the pins at the port or make/find an adapter cable to isolate power from the data lines on the cable from the pack.

You may find this info helpful..
I've used this OTG Cable setup with both CM9 Nightly & CM10 preview. I typically stay on the latest CM9 Nightly for the solid adobe flash support.

The OTG cable from the "other" seller should work, all of them come from china anyway.

If interested, read through that [Tips and Tricks] OTG (USB Host Support) thread for various ways to make homemade OTG cables to isolate power from the TP/OTG device. In post 2 you will see some USB OTG schematics (look at #2 & #3) . All OTG adapters/cables will require pins 4&5 shorted together to signal the phone/tablet that a device is being plugged in for OTG use (sometimes the purchased OTG cables don't work b/c this "jumper" is missing/defective).

Here's some updated AppleCable Ebay Store links:
USB 2.0 3 Port Hub with data Sync Charger cable (not OTG, but a cheap hub that works. can be modified for OTG)
Micro USB Host OTG Cable w/micro USB power
Left Angled Micro USB Host OTG Cable w/USB power
Right Angled Micro USB Host OTG Cable w/USB power

has anyone had success with 1 external 2.5" hdd + 1 card reader yet?

my scenario is as follows :

CM9 latest nightly
USB OTG connected to USB hub and AC supply (TP)
1 x 2.5" USB HDD + 1 x CF card reader connected
drivemount installed

only the card reader shows up, hdd won't even spin (but shows green light)
i tried three thumbdrives + 1 card reader simultaneously = works
the only way my hdd can work is to plug only the hdd in, without the usb hub.

is there any workaround for this? it shouldn't be a power problem since there's 2.1A coming from the AC.

My 2.5" USB powered drive refuses to fully spin up when connected to my Touchpad even though there is more than enough current available. Its possibly a communication issue where the HDD thinks it can only draw 100mA. Externally powered hard drives will work fine, but they aren't very portable.

Default trouble with a usb stick

Hey, i haven't seen anyone post about this...

I have a lexar 8gb secure 2 flash drive, it works fine on several computers, the lexar lights up red to indicate its working,
well, i have used a couple usb devices on my touchpad now and i've definately got the otg working and powered, but this flash drive will not mount, i have stickmount and usb otg helper installed to mount the drive and esfile explorer does not find it... also the red light is not on when plugged in the touchpad. help please!

Just popped the same drive over to my samsung galaxy s3. Guess what it works... Now I just don't know... it flashed the red light intermittently. i also installed drive mount... it didn't help...

Are you using a Y cable and power supply? You can't just plug a USB device into the Touchpad without adding a power source, the 1st post in this thread explains this.

As NathanNation mentioned, you can't just plug it in without the correct setup. See my info a few posts up for links and pictures that will help you out...HERE
