I'm guessing it'll be rootable with the zerg method. But it'd be interesting to see if bootstrap works... if so, we finally have a safe fallback when making custom ROMs.

A few questions

What's the difference between the 3 files?
Are these the original system versions or updates?(ie do they have the cell standby fix, blue camera tint etc)

I guess that's it

Bootstrap works on the xt860 use Droid3CWbootstrap.apk I think its on hashcodes site. Safestrap doesn't work however

All are original complete systems and radios. 2 of them have operator/carrier customizations from Brasil and one is a Retail/Generic version for Brasil.

I don't know about any bug fixes or problems

How lucky is this. I just soft-bricked my Bell XT860 yesterday while half-asleep, ended up flashing the ME863 ROM mentioned in another recent thread (which actually did resurrect my phone, by the way) and now I get to test this one out. Sweet.

At least Portuguese is easier to decipher than Chinese! :D

I know bootstrap works on the Bell XT860 4G, I currently have it installed...
The question is whether it works on these ROMs. It does not work on a XT860 with ME863 ROM, so I would be careful with making such a statement without confirming first.

I'll tell you guys if either Safestrap/Bootstrap work on a Bell XT860 flashed to one of these fastboot sets in a few minutes.

---------- Post added at 10:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:27 PM ----------

...after I redownload another one of the packages. I downloaded the first one and got an "Unexpected end of file" error in WinRAR and then realized I must have aborted the download somehow. Hope it doesn't take as long as it did the first time to download... hehe.

So much for going to bed early tonight.

Good news boys, as expected it flashed without any problems whatsoever, rooted with zergRush and last but certainly not least, I can get into Koush's Bootstrap from the Market now. Good ****! Just to reiterate, I've gone from a Bell XT860 -> ME863 -> Vivo XT860 (Using Blur_Version.5.2.440.XT860.Vivo.en.BR package from above). Thanks OP, you're the man.

Now I'm going to try the unthinkable... and try to restore my most recent Bell XT860 nandroid backup over top of this. Otherwise, I'm happy just using this one anyways now that I can get into some form of custom recovery!

So much for having to rely on the Chinese ME863 now... thank you Brazil!

Great news, I was able to restore the backed up /data partition from a previous nandroid backup of my Bell system before I flashed over to this Brazilian update. Got me out of a brick and everything, as far as I can tell right now, is pretty much the same as it used to be on the surface at least. Seeing as how I can root it and I have access to the CWM recovery, I'm set.

While this isn't exactly a perfect match for the Bell XT860, I think it's likely better than the ME863 fastboot files I was using earlier

No dice on trying to restore my Bell XT860 overtop of this, but that's pretty much a given. Funny thing is, it actually boots up except the screen is off; I can hear the little notification that the SD card is mounted and I can actually open up an adb shell for a few minutes before it doesn't seem to work anymore.

In any event, I'm really excited that I can at least still use Koush's Bootstrap Recovery to make nandroid backups and mess around without fear of losing anymore than I've already lost at this point. Were you trying advanced restore of data or fully restoring your bell system?

Sorry I should have been clearer. I am aware no bootstraps seem to work on me863, however some other threads have had some confusion on what works on bell xt860. It seemed some people were unaware we could make nandroids on bell xt860

Rooted xt860, debloated and overclocked to 1.1

I'm curious if this rom still has cell standby as one of the biggest user of battery. And battery life on general, same as on bells rom?

That would have been the smart thing to try... don't know why I didn't notice that option! I'll check it out.

Too early to really tell anything, I'll see today if that issue has been addressed.

*** EDIT ***

Okay, I just restored the data tarball without any problems and my phone booted up just fine, everything is good. This is great, still a little sketchy but it's better than nothing in terms of a fastboot to restore our XT860s with.

If we can't do a full restore it's not exactly a round about sbf for the xt860 but at least you can restore your data :) Maybe someone on this rom could give a shot into turning it into a safestrap and seeing if you can boot it, you should be able to boot it no problems but I couldn't with xt860 stock and safestrap image.

What's the difference between the bell rom and these ROMs from a users stand point, is the GUI different? Different bloat I assume. Once you've restored your data is it really any different from being on bell rom?

My biggest question though, is now that we have a full recovery does anyone have any intention of making a custom rom, or modifying an existing one to run on xt860

These are 2.3.5, 5.2.xx, my bell is running 2.3.4, 5.1.xx.

Ya I get that, but what's the difference to the end user experience? Besides not being able to receive updates from bell, (conversely being able to get Brazil Telecom updates) is there any reason to willingly switch to these 2.3.5 roms?
